We had a Metal Gear vs. Solid Snake poll quite recently, and it ended up in a draw. However, after at that time it was still quite easy to fraud the poll results.

Hmm.. the msx in the 90's became sort of an RPG computer.. I think it would be more fair to split this one up in msx2 RPG games and msx2 non-RPG games, since platformgames, shooters, puzzles had the same appeal.

Since a lot of people seem not to like Sd Snatcher vs Solid Snake vote at the main page again, the following thought flashed through my mind: ' what if they happen to meet in the first round (if the old system is still used) and one is kicked out in round 1 that could turn into a completely weird view off things. '

luck could make them meet in earlier rounds indeed. Futrhermore I think there will be 3 or 4 games in the final round |

hmm. nemesis III is tricky here, it's an msx1 game, but on msx2 it changes the palette..
However, technically I think N3 is an msx1 game..

Hmm... Nemesis 3 and Kings Valley 2 are funamentally different on MSX2. Different enough to call it an MSX2 game and justify it running in this competition.

Nemesis 3 only has palette changes on MSX2. The MSX2 version is fundamentally different. It has complete restyled graphics which look much better compared to the MSX1 version. Because of this, the MSX2 version is slightly slower too.
In short, in my opninion MSX2 games should run on MSX2 and higher, but not on MSX1. That's what makes it a real MSX2 game. Therefore I'd say Nemesis 3 is out of this poll.

On my opinion, the same should be applied to KV2-MSX2 (RC762) because RC761 is the same game -except the graphic level- for MSX1, there are 2 cartridges but essentially is the same game running on both machines... from my point of view, both of them should compete here (they are great MSX2 games finally) |

RC762 is Contra, RC761 is King's Valley 2 for MSX2 and RC760 is King's Valley 2 for MSX1
and since the MSX2 version of King's Valley doesn't run in an MSX1 computer it's really a MSX2 game. Nemesis 3 works in both MSX1 and MSX2 systems without any problem.
We need a final decission on this... Snout?
I won't quote the last part in my previous post... That's my opinion about this. |

Hmmm if the MSX1 version and MSX2 version of Kings Valley 2 had been on the same cartridge. Would it have been an MSX1 game then?
If Nemesis 3 was distributed in 2 cartridges, one for MSX1 and one for MSX2. Would it have been an MSX2 game then?
For this reason I think we could better say that both Nemesis 3 and Kings Valley 2 are valid entries for the competition.

I completely agree with BiFi. King's Valley MSX2 is an MSX2 game, simply because it's on the box and it doesn't work on MSX1. The NemesisIII game IS an MSX1 game with MSX2 capabilities....But only a VERY few.....
So erhm......If you ask me, Kings Valley II MSX2 version is in, Nemesis III is out.
And yes!! I know......You don't ask me |
