is the computeremuzone (where you have to register before you can download) the only place where we can download this tool? Or are there other possibilities? (A website?). If not, we'd be more than happy to add it to the MRC downloads database.

There is the only place because i'm only a computer emuzone crew and i haven't a personal web. If you really want to add it to MRC i will be agree (and very happy) with that. I made this program for free use.


PS: ROM load doesnt work.
PPS: Now MW converts .BAS to WAV( sin compresion / no compress.)

Some game test with Microwaver 0.1:

4500 bps/36 KHz and Packed (thanks to Cax):

Castle Excellent: 36s
Galaxian: 11s
Mobile Planet: 29s
RC-737: 44s

MW 0.2

New features and debuged.

- Load error doesn't hang K7_P

- Multibload works.

- ROM load works.(<=32kb)

- Slidebar with double resolution. Increment 0.5 Mhz.

- More accurated data aquisition funtion.(BIOS free)

Congratulations, WYZ!

4600 bps is a really high speed.
I will continue with WAVeR in October, as soon as I return to the university. At the moment I am very busy with my job as estate agent. I hate it!

But, please, do not forget to continue coding for MSXdev'03, ok? I do love TP, really. And I am afraid that there will be only 3 games in the contest: Ricardo Bittencourt's TETRINET, your TP and my own project.

4600... and audio compresion and packed files( by cax) .. . You know this is only fast but not the faster. Some of the test we talked about was really impresive, arround x4 better. I'm close to make it possible but this experimental mode desynchro. easily.

and what about WaVer? it will be faster than this? I'm sure you can do it. Tell us some news about your project. 8000 bps?

TP project is hard to finish. I'm not so good programmer., but i will try..

Experimetal mode works 100% and load at least 1 kb/s.


Examples

- Twinbee: 32 s
- konami's ping pong: 16 s
- Hype: 27 s


(interwav silences included and packed MegaROMs):

- Zanac-EX: 1:24 min
- Nemesis: 1:36 min
- Penguin Adventure: 2:05 min
- Vampire killer: 1:58 min

If I am not mistaken, you managed to do it perfectly in WAVeR.

The story continues...

1) MicroWAVer wav converted from Visual Basic to C, and now can be used directly from command line, or through the new frontend

2) 5512 BPS speed is reached (this means megarom can be loaded no more than 2 min. 33 sec)

3) MicroWAVer can now load also basic files

4) ROMs and basic files are packed automatically, and, as a nice side effect, you can get the binary version of packed ROM or BASIC program

5) you can use an external patch file to patch ROMs before conversion (for example, to prevent ROM autoexec after reset, to play with unlimited lives, to remove Konami's ROM protection, etc)

6) In CD-compatible modes, you can attach the MicroWAVer's loader to the loaded file.
Single WAV file generated in this case will be the only thing you have to play in order to load the file(s)

7) MicroWAVer was successfully tested with MP3-CD player, PocketPC and smartphone

Experimental features we work on which may be available in future versions:

1) using multipart disk/tape based games as-is - loading using their own basic loader
(for games such as Monty, Batman, knight tyme, etc)

2) using RAM disk to boot MSX-DOS (requires MSX2 with 128K RAM/128K VRAM) - with this feature you will be able to run many COM programs, fill virtual disk with any files and do many other cool things that usually available only if you have a floppy drive, but on a diskless computer)

3) possibly we will try to use sine wave-approximated output instead of square wave - this can make WAVs play better on diskmans and maybe compress better to mp3...

I am very glad to announce that 2 from 3 experimental features I described in previous message are already implemented in MicroWAVer:

1) you can load multipart games using their native basic loader (all bload commands are patched with MicroWAVer loading routine calls)

2) you can run MSX-DOS on a diskless MSX with 128K memory mapper at least.
Number of RAM/VRAM pages used to create RAM disk can be configured, resulting in up to about (3 RAM + 7 VRAM pages) * 16 = 160K !
RAM disk comes with MSX-DOS.SYS, COMMAND.COM and K7.COM (MicroWAVer loader) preloaded. K7.COM executes automatically, enabling you to add more files directly after booting.

In other words, single bload"cas:",r command loads ramdisk, MSX-DOS and any other files you choose. If you wish, you can add more files later. You can exit to basic and return to MSX-DOS as many times as you wish.

And now with MW it's able to convert .CAS original tape images to a free noise WAV with standard fomats, loadable from Basic. It will be released soon.

New in MicroWAVer 0.81:

WAV work more stable from audio CD played from diskman/CD drive, and can be encoded to smaller MP3 than before - 128 kbps instead of 320
(sine-approximated wave is used instead of square wave).
