Yes, let's do it. And publish GPD 1 - 12 on msx.org (I thought MOA declared all issues public domain on comp.sys.msx, about 2 years ago)

Thom was already kind enough to send me a shitload of images The issues I'm missing at this point:

GPD #1
GPD #3

I'll check the integrity of all images first and will write a text reader for GPD #12 which either works for PC or default MSX2 (the magazine itself is for GFX9000/Moonsound ~ apart from some software in the software menu ~ and the text is compressed). Then I'll make all of 'm available @ msx.org

You should really ask Reinier, I'm positive he once got them all. Still, that's 10 years ago.

Why? Some emulators do support GFX9000 sooner or later (NLMSX already does IIRC)

You can find the GPD1 on the double CD "Millenium" of MCCM

There's not yet an emulator that supports GFX9000. The best emulators, openMSX and NLMSX, emulate the OPL4 music, not the GFX9000 graphics capacities, but we can hope that GFX9000 will be emulated in the future ...

Weren't you the guy who bugged me all this while to make a text reader for GPD#12? Anyway, we only sold 12 copies orso... Too few people with a GFX9000, while we really loved its capabilities @ Emphasys (we even made a GFX9000/Moonsound/MSX2 shooter + same specs RPG, but they were never finished, mainly because of lack of interest in GPD#12 which had same specs). 2 out of 12 bought the magazine just for the Moonsound MBW songs, actually. Might be more, but 2 of 'm were asking me whether they could load the songs into Moonblaster for Moonsound.

Anyway, I think the GPD#12 default MSX2/PC reader is necessary. Luckily I still remember that compression scheme!
(actually: it's based on DD-Graph's/Moonblaster's compression algorithm and I'm using something similar in my latest GBA product)

Can't remember, however "bugging" sounds like it *was* me. Still, it was perfectly possible to read any article in a plain text editor like notepad, though the texts were flooded with strange characters.

Concluding from my above story, you compressed everything apart from the text itself??

That's pretty much correct It stores everything apart from spaces/newlines/etc.

Have you checked all of the GPD images already?

Nearly. I notice that we too often assumed that our readers would have done...

<TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%><TR><TD><font class="mrc-small">Code:</font><HR></TD></TR><TR><TD><FONT class="mrc-small"><PRE>SCREEN 0:WIDTH 80:KEY OFF:COLOR 15,0,0:SET SCREEN</PRE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR></TD></TR></TABLE>

...at one point during the battery life of their MSX(s).

Never noticed that one! Probably 'cause those were my exact settings at the time.

Yeah, most hardcore users used those settings, but emulators default to manufacturer-setting, ofcourse. Something like "screen 1: width 40: color 15,4,3: key on" (orso). Especially the backdrop-plane not being transparent can cause weird effects during palette-animations aka color-loops.
