Hello all.

I've created a group in Yahoo in where I'm uploading MP3 of some SCC cartridges. I've recorded myself the music, and the quality is good. Unfortunately, you need to sign in order to download (Yahoo policies).

Nemesis 2 soundtrack is complete, and Nemesis 3 and Salamander are in the way. I will upload also misc music in messages section, mostly MSX1 non-SCC music. Feel free to upload those tunes into your page.

See you there ^_^

THANK YOU BiFi!!!

This is what I was looking for (no more need to unconfortable recording from MSX source...). But it seems I cannot play in 50 Hz...

Do you know if there is a similar program to non-Konami MSX music or something?

I'm searching the equivalent of SPC or NSF music in MSX. And it seems that there is several formats in MSX. Which one do you think is winning?

There is a plugin for winamp that can play several MSX formats. Maybe if you can get in touch with the author, maybe he can add these formats as well. There is a newspost on the plugin right here.

Yes, the games supported by KSS doesn't need to be recorded. The problem is that KSS only support some games (also, I recorded them when I didn't know about kss existence!).

Thanks again, Bifi

One last question: Where can I find tunes in KSS, MGS, MPK, BGM, OPX and MBM format?

The author of KSS is working on further implementations of other drivers and even more games. It not known when he decides to release a new version of it.

I was just wondering " the FM-PAC cartridge for MSX, researched by Panasonic one year later, was better in quality than SCC. "

What exactly makes a sound card better than another? Is there really a way to compare such different soundcard? Especially in music, better specifications don't necessarily mean better sound. Compare the FM-based Yamaha DX-7 synths with the first synthesizers that used wavetable synthesis.

snout: It's a good question. Maybe with FM-Pac the sound is clearer, and some instruments are more similar to real ones, like drums and flutes. But it's not easy to say if FM-Pac is a better sound chip than SCC. It's only my opinion

IMHO the best sound devices of 'those days' were only better, not worse if they didn't attempt to sound like real instruments at all.

The FM-PAC is a nice sound card and you can do some neat things with it, but the SCC sounds a lot more characteristic to me.

SCC was a wavetable soundchip before they even invented the term ^^;

hmm.. I'll dig in the musictech history for that.. the technique was known and used long before konami did it... some early draw-a-waveform-and-play-it synth was the fairlight iirc, or maybe the synclavier .. both with a heavy pricetag (you could buy a castle in south france for that!).

For some reason I don't like konami music on other sort-of-similar platforms. Any console that offered like 8 channel sample-reply has crapmusic imo. It's just not the punchyness and the mood SCC music had.
