>>One of the major drawbacks of the OPLL is that you can use only one 'manually created' instrument at a time. <<

well, this limitation hasn't stopped Microcabin from producing really great music, isn't it..?
If I had to choose, for a game, between the music module with samples or the fmpac, preferably with psg, then I'd pick the latter.

Besides, with Oracle, you've plenty of 'hardware' instruments... thousends

Actually Microcabin uses that exact technique. (That is, changing a hardware instrument while it's playing)

Did they? Never noticed before..! The 'power' of Microcabin is the combination of FM-pac and PSG. Because the PSG adds 3 'replacement' channels there's room to double-detune some FM channels. (the bell-sound in Fray, the first action music after the village).

Can you give me an exact example numer in Imagine 1 or 2, where they do instrument-changes ?

GuyveR800 is in true. I have dissasembled I lussion city music driver and made varios utilities for generating one song from a text file and inverse and other utility for split a song in 9 songs, one for channel, and I have seen this changes.

MCDRV uses PSG in a very simple way, and the 'power' is very complex modulations in frecuency and volumen, and diferents speed fades of one note to other, and the most important reason this driver is made thinking in real music, written in a pentagram, not in music made with a tracker which made music in a cuadrangular form, the timing is a very important part of the driver.

I am waiting to finish my examens and that warau can help me with a little options of the driver (I must do some improves for optimizing time waste by driver).

Ufff, wait that I will finish my examens and I will see for you. I don't use "imagine 2", instead I use mcdrv of Manuel pazos, that has songs how separates files and you can play any .mcm file.

I'm not going to do a tracker, a tracker can't use all facilities of this driver (well it can, but you must put "tempo" in a 1 interrupt ...). I am developed a "assembler" of songs for this driver, with a lot of facilities for timing (for example you can define irregular groups of notes, link between notes and of course points,a maximun of 7 points, for get exact time that you want for your note, all times are relative to one variable TEMPO whose meaning is speed of playing, not minimun numbers of interrupts between 2 notes, you decided numbers of quarter in a minute).

I want to do a higher utility for compose music, but now I have other things to do. When I will finish improvement of driver and manual of assembler I notice to all MSX people.

hmm, have you ever checked First Rate Music Hall? Looks like your talking about that same ol' music program. (it's not a tracker)
whatever. I was never a big fan of trackers myself (being a musician) although they do present music in a clever way.
