I am looking for a game name - not a game rom. So i guess i am not violating the forum rules with this post.

I know what i will ask will be highly unlikely that you will be able to answer, but it is my last attempt to find something after many many hours searching in the net.

A long long time ago i used to go to one of my (brother's) friend's house. He had some consoles and one of them was the msx. Unfortunatelly i was very *very* young and i don't remember titles. I only have a foggy memory of one of the games i used to play.

In the game i am looking for, you controlled a ninja. As far as i can remember, the game had "separate stages" and the gameplay was slightelly different in each stage. Generally the game was a platform one. The screen scrolled in different directions in each stage, keeping the ninja in the middle of the screen. As far as i can remember it was a very short game and it "looped" every n stages much like in space trouble. But i am not very sure about that. It either "looped" of the direction of the screen was swapped (like "going somewhere and back again"... in n stages)

In the first stage the ninja was running either left or right. If i remember well there were no platforms to jump on. The ninja simply run, killing all enemies in it's way. The easiest and very simple stage indeed.

In the stage i remember mostly the ninja climbed a rope straight upward in the screen. There were platforms on the left and on the right side of the screen and enemies on those platforms were shooting towards the ninja. The only controls you had was the vertical movement of the sprite and the direction in which the ninja would attack.

The last stage i remember was with various platforms in the screen. The ninja would jump from platform to platfrom killing enemies while the background scrolled in the opposite direction (i am not sure about left or right).

Now, i do now there are numerous games like that since 1984, but at that time there weren't that many. So, hopes dies last

Let me know if any of this gives you any idea!

Looking for a game name isn't a violation of the forum rules whatsoever.

I think its just called NINJA
I had the same game on a 200 in 1 cart for the Famicom
basically you jumped up a huge tower and threw stars at guys
got little icons that gave you points, i think they are releasing and updated version
called NINJA-X on xbox.
All of the levels were basically the same with a different color scheme
and when you got to the end it started over

There are several of these ninja games for MSX.
They're either made by Jaleco, or UPL. Maybe that helps.
Another ninja game is Candoo Ninja, but I think that isn't it. and uhm.. well, there are dozens ^^;

I think it really sounds like Candoo Ninja - 1983 - Ascii / Mass Tael

Level 1:

Walking to the right side of the field, avoiding rolling scissors, bird-eggs and holes in the ground.
When you come to the end of this, you have to kill all ninjas. Ninja's change into diamonds and as soon
as you have all the diamonds, the level ends. Ninja are on platforms and you'll have to jump and climb ropes to get there.

Level 2:

Climb each rope to get a key, avoiding (again) rolling scissors, birds, bird eggs and arrows.

Level 3:

One big rope leading to a window. Every so often there are 2 ninja's on a platform (one on both sides).
Kill them or get by them (not sure if that's possible). Between each ninja pair, there are some bats flying.

After level 3, it's level 1 again.

Ninja Kage was also released on NES I think it was called Demon Sword, it is not as good as the
MSX Kage though, but it may be a sequel that was only on the NES all I know is the games are VERY similiar in gameplay
