How can i extract (rip) PSG (AY-3-8910) MSX tunes from games?

I mean thera could be an emulator which have this hability. Which?

I use NLMSX because i think it is the best.
I use ParaMSX too, but PSG emulation is best in NLMSX.

Neither NLMSX nor ParaMSX seem to have any posibility to extract AY-3-8910 tunes from MSX games.

Some help?

With ripping, do you mean the replayer and music data or ripping to another file format? (.wav for example)

Learn MSX programming, then you can use MSX tools on any emulator to rip tunes.

I want to extract the "ay" called format tunes (which are supported by the awesome deliplayer player for windows), but not convert it to "ym" format nor wav or mid, etc, but pure "ay" format.
I've found some file in internet ripped form Zanac for example, but i don't know how to extract it from games for myself.
I know MSX programming, and i programmed many things using Z80 assembler and VDP, PSG ay-3-8910, PPI, etc. However, i am sure that there are some tool for PC MSWindows which can do what i want, and i don't want to reinvent things.

So, ro, i want to extract just only the music data.

You want to extract the music data PLUS music player code, right?

To the best of my knowlegde there is no PC tool to automatically rip that, is there for other systems?!

Your best bet is to use some kind of debugger. Either native on MSX or using an emulator. The only MSX emulator with a decent enough debugger is NO$MSX, although a debugger for openMSX is being worked and BrMSX has a limited debugger, they're nowhere near NO$MSX.

This might be of some help to you also: http://www.angelfire.com/art2/unicorndreams/msx/Yawara.html

I also had thought about ripping MSX tunes (data and player code)..

Does there exist a tutorial or docs?
Because I want to know how sound/music on the MSX is handled (is there an usual method?)

There is not ONE procedure to rip musics and music codes on a MSX computer or emulator, because there are so many different formats for music files. So, you must learn all these formats and if the files are hidden in the sectors of the disk, an hexadecimal editor (like WinHex) is very useful. In some cases, the files are also compressed and/or encryted .... That's a hard work !!!

Most of the times, tracing the interrupt rutine will end in the BGM driver.

Anyway, the best way of listening your favorite MSX tunes is KSS (not Konami Sound System, but the file format for WimAmp using MSXplug plug-in)

Psychophanta,... if you only want the PSG data you can use the '-logsnd' option in
fmsx-dos.... then you get almost raw psg data....
There are also tools to convert the fmsx PSG format to AY format.
Hope this will help you out.

Greetingz.
