hey there.
i have managed to get fmsxce running metal gear on my dell axim x5. the only problem is that i cant save my game. most commonly it says "verify error". when and if the error doesnt appear, there does not appear to be anything saved with i reload the file.
can somebody please help me?

The verify errors are something you should worry about. Probably the emulation is not perfect yet.

However, with Metal Gear 1 of 2 you do not save everything.

In Metal Gear 1 you can save when you want, if you reload you will be warped back to the last time you visited the elevator. Metal Gear 2 saves the last move to a new environment (new building, floor, jungle etc.).

the emulation should be good... i know mg2 can save properly. i think the problem with mg1 is that is saves to a cassette and i dont kno how to make a cas file properly. the gamemaster2 supposedly allows mg1 to save to disk, but i have no idea how to use it either... any help would be greatly appreciated.

it doesnt exist... i looked ALL over the net... heres what i can tell u tho. from reading the debug.log, u can see what its trying to load. so u need the fmsxce program files, and msx2p.rom and msx2pext.rom in the main directory. also include a keybind.cfg file. from the KEYBIND directory in the fmsxce archive, take the file corresponding to ur pda and rename it to keybind.cfg. i think thats it. i will check my pda's fmsxce dir later to see if what i said was 100% correct. if u get that working and need help with the key configs, let me kno.
for pocketmsx, were u able to save to cassette? if u were, can u get me a copy of a .cas file that works and tell me how u did it?

still have problems saving to cassette... sum1 plz help me there

nope... I guess save option in pocketMSX is not yet implemented. It's a great emu for pocketPC but it seems the development was stopped

thanks a lot for the tips with fmsxce, I'll try it and I continue searching some info about it

ok heres the files the important files in my fmsxce directory.
fMSX_CE.exe
gsgetfile.dll
gx.dll
keyboard.bmp
KEYBIND.cfg

important roms:
disk.rom
fmpac.rom
msx2p.rom
msx2pext.rom

other roms and files are either optional or created when the emulator is run. its a good idea to format a new dsk file. metal gear 2 saves and loads perfectly on the emulator to dsk so i assume there is a way to save metal gear 1 to cas... btw the flash rom version of metal gear doesnt save either.... the save is gone once u leave reset the rom.

heres some help with the keybind. the there are 4 rows of hex codes separated by commas. the end of each row (by default fro the archive) has a comment of the MSX key it represents. the first row will be the key from the pocket pc buttons/keyboard. to change the keys, use the keycheck option in the emu and put the kex code into the first row of the hex codes according to the msx key u want mapped. make sure the final keybind file is named "keybind.cfg" and not keybind_ppc.cfg.

i believe that should be it for running fmsxce. hope this helps everyone out who wants to use this ^^

/me still wants .cas file and saving info. i cant even figure it out on fmsx dos. if it works with the dos version, itll work with the ppc version. so sum1 PLZ help ><

Hi again... i've been testing your indications, but i'm not was able to start a .ROM or .DSK I did all your steps but the screen remains blue and don't start any game, and don't came into BASIC or MSX-DOS.

I was looking on the debug.log and I saw there missed MSXDOS2.ROM too to begin emulation. I putted it on the fmsxce directory but it doesn't work... looking on the debug again, i'm not able to detect the problem... only appears this message of failure :

Loading DEFAULT.FNT font...FAILED

...and...

Loading state from .sta...FAILED
RUNNING ROM CODE...
EXITED at PC = 77ADh.
Trash MSX ... OK.
Video closed.
Sound Device Trash ... OK.
Option saved.
fMSX_CE Exit

My pocketPC is a iPAQ (ARM) at 200MHz... can you help me a bit more please? (meanwhile i still using pocketMSX, a great emu too )
