But since VRAM bandwidth is very limited, the VDP fetches the sprite data in advance, on the previous line. This is also the reason sprites always appear 1 line lower than you set them. I think the trick you describe is possible, but it is not as easy as it may seem on a first glance.

Exactly because the VDP only fetches sprite data at a fixed time, it's possible to change the data anywhere in the line!
Sprite data is fetched during the border period, so as long as you make sure you're out of there (with the standard interrupt routine that will always be the case, because of all the PUSH's) there's no problem.

Please try to implement it; it would make a wonderful testcase for emulators

I did this in 1998 and had no problems.

Well we currently have one team:

Latok - Coding & ideas
Snout - Music (I'm going to use Musica! PSG+SCC+FMPAC!!) and (minor) coding
Zett - GFX (The font looks awesome, dude!)

Like I tried to state in my initial post... see this as a challenge, I'd like to see other people form a small group and do a logo&scroll demo as well... So... don't be shy and give it a try!

(Do I hear a Maggoo+Argon team coming up? )

*L* The world doesn't need to see another infamous scroller from us but if anyone's willing to type, I can provide the code (still got at least 10+ scroller engines on my HD).

This may sound harsh, though quite some people have paid for subscription to Future Disk and people working on other things than Future Disk might look kinda disturbing to those paid subscribers.

Don't get me wrong here. It's quite cool to see demo's coming up again.

Aaaaah come on! I still have a Futuredisk subscription as well and I also am teasing some former Futuredisk members with it, sometimes. But for real!! You don't really expect a new Futuredisk, do you? I don't think Futuredisk members are in any way morally obliged to work only on Futuredisk content because of the subscribers to that diskmagazine. The Futuredisk times are gone and over (are they? ), we should carry on....And its former members are free to do whatever they want to do.

Bring it on, them demos!!

Would be neat if you are going to distribute it on Bussum Fair, I think Would give the fair an extra boost

If subscribers have paid and don't get their FD's then certainly the FD members are morally wrong. Although not because of working on other stuff.

I don't expect any new issues of FD anymore, no. Though it should be just fair to return their money they paid for subscription, or am I wrong here?

Well, being a former FD crewmember (that had nothing to do with the subscriptions and administration of the FD, so don't try harassing me about the FD no longer appearing, I was just a simple composer and text writer ) I won't say a lot about the death of the FD. The leading person seems to have vanished from this earth, so counting on more FutureDisks might be a bit too enthousiastic. But then again, who knows... maybe something will happen

As for them demos, if all is well, Woei will be unleashed somewhere today (19-9-2003)... so watch out for it

As far as I'm concerned, they can keep their money if it makes them happy.

Bifi, I can understand how you (and a lot of other people) are feeling about the lack of released FutureDisks. It's really a shame, because FutureDisk was quite an important diskmagazine, always being stacked with lots of texts and usually games as well. Especially after the real Sunrise Magazine was gone, no other diskmagazine had the same level of content as the FutureDisk (some people might thing differently about this, tho )

Some of the crew-members working on other stuff might seem strange, but in reality, there's hardly anything we (Jorito and me) can do about it since we were 'just' crewmembers that weren't involved in adminitration/subscriptions.

And yes, I do think FutureDisk should do something about this situation, a refund, releasing new issues, whatever. Actually there are some plans already, but I can't say anything about it.... and if nothing happens, don't blame me

Anyways, the Woei demo is almost finished, it just needs some finishing touches. It *should* be released this evening Also, taking a small break from Bombaman felt good too. Plus, I never did real demo coding before so I learned some new nice tricks as well I can probably use some in Bombaman too.

And for those who are interested in seeing how things were done, the sourcecode will be released as well!
