I'd like to know if you just suck in languages or if you are dyslectic. I have a hard time deciding whether or not I should make fun of it. Compare your message in the quote here, with your original message if you haven't got a clue what I am talking about. |

I doubt your speaking is much better than your writing... maybe it sounds good to you, but if you construct the same sentences while speaking as you do with writing there's definitely something wrong
Nothing wrong with not able to write proper english, but you use a mixture of dutch, english and some weird language that's still unfamiliar to me in the same line. |

fab=FABULOUS (ie. fantastic)
Have you consulted an expert? Coz it really does seem like you're dyslexic (not dyslectic ^^ ! The dutch you write is full of mistakes too... :/
Note, being dyslexic is nothing to be ashamed about, and there are methods of training to reduce the 'effect'.
But if you're really not dyslexic and really speak the language well, you should double-check your writings before submitting them. You make a lot of the same mistakes over and over ('becours' in stead of 'because', 'olso' in stead of 'also', etc.)
Anyway, I'd like to conclude with a general comment to those who cannot write english very well: Posting anything is better than posting nothing So don't be afraid to write some really bad english |

Well, most of the times I'd say the contrary is true. And this post is a clear example of that |

I wouldn't be surprised, I tried to keep the sentences as much as they were but without mistakes. I am sure there is still lots to improve on a semantic or style level. I wouldn't mind if you made some suggestions, I might learn something |

Mr. Rudi, as you asked for suggestions here they are. You use "an MSX" and "an MSX event" which should be "a MSX" or "a MSX event". Because the M has a vowel sound you cannot use "an". Even in the case of "MSX event" you still use "a" and not "an". In Dutch you would refer to "event" and thus think you should use "an", but in English it doesn't work that way.
"I have a lot of MSXes these days", should be "I had a lot of...". It's in the past.
English is such a fine language. I'm not saying that I am a good English speaker or writer at all. Just giving you some answers...
Pretty nice f.a.q. about commonly made mistakes in English writing: http://dictionary.reference.com/help/faq/language/browsefaq.html (I highly recommend this one to Zett) |

I beg to differ on both issues really....

As far as I know the way you pronounce things has to do with "a" or "an" not how you write them. In case of MSX the "M" of MSX is pronounced as "éhm" which means you should use "an" and not "a". It's "an EHM ES EX" not "a EHM ES EX".
Quote:

If I understand his message correctly he has these MSXes today, so it is not past tense. Besides "I had a lot of MSXes these days" doesn't make sense at all, you have past tense "had" and "these days" -> the present, in one sentence. If it was supposed to be past tense it should have been "I had a lot of MSXes those days".
