Hi,
I have a couple of questions to you:
1. I have Trunks' loadrom.com to run .rom images on real MSX, but it doesn't work for images greater than 64 kb on my MSX-tR. How to fix this? Or is there any other program I can use instead?
2. how to run .dsk images on real MSX.
Thank you

On turboR HDDEMU is the best, it even works for a lot of copyprotected games. |

I checked the download section of MRC for HDDEMU but it requires HardDisk. I don't have hard disk, though I have Sunrise's IDE interface. External Harddisk is difficult to find here in Yemen.

To start megaroms with Loadrom, you must have a memory mapper that is still greater than the size of the megarom
Example : if the megarom size is 512 Kb, you must have a memory mapper of at least 1024 Kb.
If this doesn't work, then try a memory mapper of 2048 or 4096 Kb (Loadrom needs indeed more memory with some megaroms)

You don't need an external harddisk.
I use a normal internal harddisk in a shoebox |

..or you could consider the CompactFlash interface
with loadrom you sometimes need to set the mapper type manually. I think BiFi knows more about that. There are more ROMloaders for MSX though.
MegaMU is one of them that works very well IIRC |

The CompactFlash adapter (not interface) can be used with the normal IDE interface, and may be a cheaper option
Still needs a 5V power source tho.

It seems that people think too coplicated way... These files are disk images, that can be copyed to a disk. There are plenty of softwares for PC and MSX to do this. Try for example DCOPY on PC or WRDSK on MSX. On Linux, you don't need any software, just cat the image to/dev/fd0
More information can be found on MSX faq ( www.faq.msxnet.org) |

loadrom tends to remap the Konami megarom mapper when the size of the rom image exceeds a certain limit (most likely 32 KB) and no particular type is specified. These settings can be done in a special file which comes with loadrom called rom-sort.dsc. In that file you can specify the filename of a rom image and what mapper type it should use. The list in that file is required to be sorted at all times though to get it correctly running with loadrom. |
