Hi,

I was wondering... Does anyone know if there's a PC-program that can record a sequence of MSX screens in order to make an animated GIF or something like that? So that you can make a small demo of some MSX production and put it online on a website? Or can something like this only be done manually?

You can make the screenshots manually, and use a program like JASC Animation Shop (comes with Paint Shop Pro, or available seperately) to create the animated GIF (or MNG).

Hmm... Isn't that a nice idea to incorporate in an emulator then? A recording option? Making such an animated GIF manually is too much work and if you don't own a videocapturecard you can't do it that way either. I'd say it's not such trouble to make some sort of recording tool...

I believe there are general purpose tools for this.

And I also believe a feature like this is on the openMSX todo-list.

There is not a real openMSX TODO list, but the feature is in the feature request tracker at least.

You can try something like Hypercam: www.hyperionics.com/hc/index.asp

Note that next openMSX release will have a feature to make a screenshot of every frame, so that you can compose a movie of the PNG files

As if anyone would THAT. PNG files cannot be combined to a movie format, yet with a good set of tools you could convert them to BMP (HAARGH!!!) which can then be used to transform to AVI... Or use the Hypercam instead

Vampier did it, see http://msx.vampier.net/
So, D-Tail, it's very well possible. He made animated GIFs out of the images, AFAIK.

Just after a conversion from PNG to GIF, I suppose...
