| If you play games, there is no reason to boost your MSX speed. (...cut...) You anyway may want to try for example Elite on R800.

It works wonders in Metal Gear 2 and SD-Snatcher too |

I think, that in English translation there was a key to hold, to enable R800 mode in Metall Gear 2 (jikkou?)

once i did an x-periment with marcel with a fullscreen movie runing a the v9990 with the tool VMFPLAY at 40MHZ and it ran perfect!

This is also on the MAP: the MSX I/O ports overview - Switched I/O ports
Btw, it's not 7 MHz, but actually 5.37 MHz. And as far as I know the sound doesn't go high-pitched, the clock timer on the bus is probably the regular 3.5 MHz, just like it is the case on turboR in R800 mode. My guess is that it has no slowdown for the VDP, it can probably still keep up on that speed. But maybe there is a slowdown, in which case I suspect a similar solution as on the turboR, which is, after all, also from Panasonic.

Uh, IIRC people on this forum have already stated the sound DOES go high pitch. But indeed I don't think there's any slowdown at all, so the high pitch will be bearable.

Ah, sure, didn't read the entire thread . One octave exactly, eh? Nice ^_^. Weird though aswell, I would have expected Panasonic to make a little more solid hardware base for this (adapt the MSX-Engine or something). Btw, Nyyrikki's basic oneliner is impressive ^_^.
