Hi!
Has any one done any test with this cable or the JoyNet standard?
Correct me if I am wrong: there are 3 data lines and GND. You can use these 3 lines to transmit 2 bits and reserve the other one for the READY or BUSY signal. Has someone coded something simple to have a look? In ASM, of course.
I think that multiplayer-multicomputer games will boost all the MSX meetings experience.
Kind regards,

I can confirm it being 3 (bi-directional) lines of signal and 1 GND, it running on F1-Spirit 3D-Special and such...
Connections:
1 - 6
2 - 7
3 - 8
6 - 1
7 - 2
8 - 3
9 - 9
Pretty need thing, that cable. I made it myself and I still have it. I have tested the cable also with a tool made by Ramon van der Winkel (RWi, a well-known programmer from the former MSX Software Team who was one of the developers of MemMan and other MST products) called MAD (MSX op Afstand Debugger), a tool which enables you to debug routines on a remote computer. The sources are available on the MSX Info Pages which also contains the routines for communicating using that cable.
It's really cool. |

It would be great to produce some multi-computer games. They could be really easy in gameplay and developmente, but really fun to play. Imagine 2 players in each computer, and 8 computers in a ring network using JoyNet standard: that is 16 people playing the same game.
Even TRON game can be addictive. But let's think about it: what kind of multiplayer game would you find interesting?
Kind regards,

RPG's with multiple characters playing at once (ally) or supportive characters.
Think about being a shopkeeper, you hunt down treasures and then offer them to the real hero's (for a price ofcourse) .
naaa.. lets first await a real playable 'normal' RPG that's at least finished before tha asteroid kills us in 2031 ..

Well, according to some space ppl, some asteroid *might* impact earth, or at least gets close ..
..and it's expected to be a big sucker
I read it one some (NL) forum a week ago or something, perhaps I can find the link..

No one still interested in JoyNet? Maybe I'll do something by myself...

Thanks, Manuel. But that was, of couse, the first site (and only?) that I visited to gather some information about the joynet. Sean Young's site (now moved to the Wikipedia) has some more info about the original F1 Spirit 3D Special cable.
Is that "Laser Bikes" game on-line somewhere?
