Sounds awesome! You can count me in aswell. But it would be nice to have it somewhere somewhat central, maybe in Drenthe or something? That a bit reachable and doesn't take hours to get there.

maybe .. maybe not.. depends.. I can ask.. next to my studio there's a room of ~ 90 square meters.. a room/hall, yet to be finished, and it's not heated atm, but at least there's room. And most importantly, we bought some chairs at Domeinen, so there're at least 20 semi-comfi chairs. (the type o' chairs you see in conference rooms).

Tables shouldn't be a major problem, but atm they're in use.. parking *could* be a problem, since there's not much room, but the station is 5 mins. with the car.

Doesn't sound to bad at al.. Only the heating. The can be a problem in the coming periods

btw, how exactly would you describe these meetings ?

(1) just fooling around a bit, talk etc. (can be done on #msx or #msxdev anyway)

(2) serious developing in 1 day

(3) a fair (bussum/tilbeurs style)


I can say already that, for this place, 3 is not an option, not to mention the crowd showing-up. It would more likely be an invite-only party or something.

I say option 2.. and option 1 is incuded also. Some people would like to have a kind of workshop... Introductions into coding.. stuff like that.

workshops for the usual #msxdev gang ? Or do you want to invite tons of n00bz and form a small class with a beamer and a teacher in the front?

and not only the #msx/MSXdev gang, but also others that are seriously interested...

uhm.. I'm not talking about the local school, or about some partyhall, but just some room in a (farm-)barn, which is ~ 10x9 meters, minus a few m2 for a yet2be finished kitchen, minus some comfi sofas, minus a little 2x2 stage with some music equipment and minus 1 m2 for the huge controlpanel for the lights etc. (there's over 1 km of cables on top of the hall/studio). So, *if* there's gonna be some meeting, then it's invite-only.

For other bigger thingies it might be better to look out for a 'normal' school/partyplace/cafe-with-conference-hall. Every town has some for hire.

msxxpress, the meeting is also open for people who don't visit #msx/#msxdev. But, most people who are interested in developping stuff are also regular visitors in those channels. Most people who want to visit the meeting are also in those channels. If you want to develop stuff for MSX but don't know how to start, join #msxdev now!

about the activities... a combo of 1) and 2) would be good I think. Although, seriously developping things won't be happening I guess. A simple scroll&logo demo would be possible though Workshops could be arranged for newbies, but that would mean those newbies should inform the organisers about what they would want to learn. The meeting is also a good place to exchange ideas, tips, code, ... Maybe some newbies can form new groups.

About the place wolf_ is talking about... I think it should be big enough for everyone who wants to join the meeting. There won't be that many people anyway, probably 25 people max.

If you want to include newbies, there can be more, I think. And not everyone who would be interested is 'online', I'm for example thinking of Andre van Herk (although I haven't talked to him or anything ).
