Count me in too I'll come by car, but don't have any extra monitors, so that might be a prob... if there are some locals in the vincinity of Groningen city (atm it's only snout I know of that's more or less on route, but perhaps there's more?) I think I could help out with transportation of people and hardware a bit (limited to 3 tho ) |

I'm thinking of making a set of titles and sprites in Paint Shop Pro (PC). If I create these in vectors, they can easy be adjusted in terms of colors, size and appearance. If the set is large enough, it could be very handy for game developers to have. With vectors you can re-use and modify the gfx as much as you want, without redrawing them again pixel by pixel.
For me to show up there need to be some interest. Not only that:
1) People who draw gfx, or want to learn
2) People who have (a basic) knowledge of Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop.
3) People who want to build a set of tools to use the exported gfx (in bmp format) on msx. I need good converters for bmp to sc5, sc8 and sc10~12 (the latter ones for e.g. title screen, intro demo's and maybe for finishing games like M-Kid) I need these tools on pc for speed (switching to msx and converting consumes way to much time, we want to draw, not playing disk jockey)
4) Someone once made a color palette for screen 8 in Paint Shop Pro. I need the same for screen 5 and -if possible- higher. This way you can work with the MSX colors and RGB values within Paint Shop.
8) Same count for Sprites basically. Would be nice to have a pc tool that can convert drawings to sprites, and show the output. Please put the XOR and multiple sprite layers in.
9) If you want to be my hero, make all output of the PC tools Vscreen compatible.
Goal is to make a complete set of Free gfx building blocks that can be adjusted for different projects in a snap. I can't do this alone of course, but with all gfx being adjustable without redrawing them, I can make a start, and hopefully other people can adjust those gfx to create bigger sets.
If there are a few people who want to help extend the basic building blocks, or have some idea's, please reply here.
We could build a database here, where you can download the vector building blocks, adjust them and upload those again in the database. You could think of a few categories like tile sets (back and foregrounds), platform blocks (stones, stairs, objects), and a different section for e.g. screen color schemes to work with. Like shooters (Space Manbow), platform games (treasure of usas) etc.)
I made a example in three minutes to show here, but I need to get access to our ftp server to do so. (Snout: did you change the pwd?)
I'll add that screenshot here later.
