I really must have a look at this computer. I've already heard about it but didn't expect such great comparaisons with the MSX system.
Nice infos. Thanks guys !

just like the msx the x68000 has also fan made games

some of the games are ported to the pc as freeware. If you are intrested in how powerfull the machine was check out these games

This is a type of kyohugen on the x68000 called chorensha 68k.I think its best fan made shooter for x68000. and an exelent windows port

http://www2.tky.3web.ne.jp/~yosshin/my_works/download.html

I love the X68000 system, almost as much as I do the MSX. I definitely want to know just where the heck you got them, Gilneas2, and where the heck I can find them (Just kidding) . I just wish I can find a system for sale that is relatively inexpensive (between USD $50 and USD $200).

A good fanmade game for X68000 is ZugyA.

And here's the PC version

BTW, now that I checked about it, there's a new version called ZugyA DX. I'll try it.

well, Akihabara's a good start, but... I doubt I can get there easily without, you know, spending a metric ton of money... oh well. Guess I'll have to save up and get on the ball with learning the language... who knows? mebbe I can find a ton of nice MSX stuff too

I am somewhat ashamed of myself, I actually deleted them from my harddrive not too long ago.
As for acquiring them, take a look around eMule Project, a P2P network that focuses on archiving instead of speed. I also got two very large MSX archives from there, but sadly they are not 100% complete.

I don't think a 100% complete MSX archive exists, or ever will.

japancollector, nice mentioning Cho Ren Sha 68K. I've had the Windows port on my pc for quite some time. Personally it reminds me a lot of the Star Soldier games from PC Engine.

I tested the X68000 with emulation quite some time ago; I liked the remake of Nemesis 2 (called Nemesis 90) a lot.

As for Japanese freeware games, a few years ago I followed that a bit. There are definately some gems amongst them, and indeed, a lot of these games were originally produced on the X68000, or the groups started there. It seems Japan has embraced the PC now though, just as in... well, everywhere.

Nowadays, there's too many games with girls on brooms, though =P

p2p, you say...?

that might work... but are there any clients that don't have any spyware on them? I remember the great Kazaa fiasco of aught-two, and I don't want to have a repeat. Plus, how heavy is the risk of viruses? That's another thing I don't want to have happen..

and... y'know... the legality... *cough*

eMule is fine. But make sure you check out the File Details and see what the file is called by your sources so you can detect fakes.
I'm rather oblivious to spyware and viruses, all I can say is, no problems here and I trust my firewall.
About legality, be your own judge. As for me, I consider it abandonware.
And as long as {mod....} lives, IMO it's legal to download abandonware.

that may very well be your point of view, but the MSX Resource Center does not share it, and is clear about not linking to (sites containing) copyrighted software from our fora. This is where we draw the line, lads!
