I just couldn't resist quoting some lines from #msx which very closely relates to a part Dr. Nishi talked about in the lecture he had in Tilburg in 2001.

Quote:

<Ginseng> http://news.com.com/2100-1001-850353.html
<Ginseng> Before use airbag and M$ system will ask : Are you sure (press Y/N)?
<Ginseng> when you car has stopped
<Ginseng> you must leave car and go in again
<da_Dude> lol
<da_Dude> first close all windows

and to point to the part Dr. Nishi talk about this: http://www.msx.org/articlepage4.html

Cars in BMW's new line, the BMW 7 Series, are equipped with a special kind of Windows: the Microsoft kind.

Microsoft's Windows CE software will allow BMW drivers to navigate, make calls and control many of the cars' other features. The BMW 7 Series was launched in Germany last fall and has just been released in the United States.

The new line of BMWs use a navigating system from Siemens, called the Siemens VDO Automotive AG, which includes Microsoft's operating system. Microsoft also recently announced the launch of Windows CE for Automotive v3.5, the newest version of its software for cars based on Windows CE.

Microsoft said last July, that over the next year and a half, nine automakers would ship cars with built-in devices that use the Windows CE operating system, which allows drivers to check their calendars or stock portfolios and use voice commands.

Microsoft has been working with consulting company Accenture to provide what it calls "telematic" services for cars, a combination of telecom and data technology.

That's why I was thinking about something Nishi said in Tilburg (check the link in the initial post).

windowsce would be much worse imagine if your operating system crashes your car crashes
msx is more secure the space shuttle uses z80 to calculate if things are doing ok
it uses 8 z80 cpu's 1 main 7 slaves they all do the same calculations the main cpu looks in to the calculations of the slaves whats the best for that moment and then it chooses the best option they still run on z80 cpu's because they dont crash all the time like the other availble at the moment.
sorry to dissapoint you about this but the system is based on spectrum zx81 but i think msx can handle calculations much better
