The S-video cable I recently bought at a consumer electronics store has 4 pins, just like my turboR, and my new TV and my S-VHS VCR.
So I dunno what you'd call 'modern S-video' ^^;

However, the TV-output of my PC has 3 extra pins...

Yep, Svideo in my FSA1WX has 4 pin like that

....1...3
..2.......4
......=...

exactly as the input SVideo of the TV, and the SVideo standard cable fits this... but this couldn't be enough, let's see

Hey, relax... we're just confirming S-video has 4 pins!

Still, I think it's weird my PC TV-out (which is advertised as S-video) has 7 pins... The extra pins are located between the 4 pins where normally there's empty space. So a regular S-video cable does fit.
So I was actually wondering if it had anything to do with what you said about 'modern' s-video.. maybe there's a sub-standard or something?

I didn't mean to be rude
Just tried to be funny...
(looks like I didn't succeed, hehe ...oops)

I remember trying a (modern) S-Video cable on my turboR, but one of them had a different amount of pins... I don't remeber correctly but I think the "modern" S-Video cable had too many pins and couldn't fit the turboR connector...

Greetings.

That's it!
Well, that answers all our questions, doesn't it

"If you use this diagram to build a standard 4-pin S-video cable, you only need to use Pins 1-4 (pins 5,6, and 7 are not used)."

yep!

i've been testing RCA to RCA, RCA to SCART and SVideo, and all works perfectly, with sound and full color.

Cool...
