| Looking for an MSX2 (and Falcom games)
|
monotone27 msx user Berichten: 60 | Geplaatst: 09 December 2003, 13:47   |
I was wondering if anyone out there might have a spare MSX2 they would be willing to sell. I'm looking for a Japanese MSX2 with at least 128kb of RAM and a 3.5" (720kb) disk drive. I'm also looking for a data cassette recorder, control pads (not joysticks), and any Falcom games that anyone may have for sale (especially Xanadu). If anyone thinks they could help out, please send me an e-mail at monotonerecs(at)hotmail.com.
Thanks,
Kevin

if it's a Japanese machine you are looking for, most will come with 64Kb only. Which is not an issue if you only want to play japanese disk games or games in Rom format, those don't require more than 64kb.

That's not true. Both require 64Kb RAM if you own the originals. |

He was talking about japanese diskgames. Well, (SD) Snatcher needs 128kbyte RAM Ok, the 64kbyte RAM is inside the cartridges, but hey, that was not the point |

I didn't realize that most games need only 64kb. Do most of the translations only need 64kb as well (specifically the Delta Soft translation of Sorcerian)?

Yeah, 64kbyte will do just fine if you want to play those commercial Japanse games. Same goes for the translated ones.

Yup, the only issue you'll encounter with a 64kb machine is if you want to play cracked Megaroms ported to disk (you'll then need 128Kb or more). But noone here is playing cracked games Ahem...
Also many European MSX2 games / demos / tools require more than 64kb |

What the hell. If you are going to buy an MSX buy a Panasonic FS-A1ST or FS-A1GT. No more "64Kb RAM" problems |

Okay, I'm pretty sure I'm getting a computer (a Sanyo Wavy 23 to be exact), but I'm still looking for a disk drive, control pads, and a data cassette recorder (preferably Sanyo models if possible). Anyone out there interested in selling or trading?

The Sanyo Way 23 is a great looking machine
But why do you specificly look for an external Sanyo FDD ???
Those external FDD's are hard enough to find as it is...
[OFF TOPIC]
Maybe that's an idea for Sunrise
An external floppy drive system from which you can boot your MSX machine...

AFAIK there's a floppy interface available from Ademir Carchano in Brazil.
See a recent newspost (or the 'msx links' on the left) for a link to his page.

I sort of wanted to have a complete Sanyo setup (computer, disk drive, data cassette, etc.) but I didn't realize how hard it is to find this stuff. I'd pretty much take anything at this point, but I'd still like to find the Sanyo stuff eventually if I can.

I know of Sony, Philips and Panasonic external FDD drives, but I have never seen one from Sanyo... Did they make them ?

Truthfully, I'm not really sure. I figured they did, but after looking around I can't find any evidence that they do exists.
Actually, I'm not going to be getting the Wavy23 anymore. I found a Yamaha MSX2 with an external FDD. I believe it even has 128k RAM! I forget the model number though. It should be coming in a few days, so I'll let you all know how it works out.
