Ah.. so it's similar to an SCC without ROM
I suppose it comes with a utility disk for saving SRAM to disk and vice versa?

The only official utility I know is called FM-PAC.

But, how to use SCC/SCC+? I type in the command line "-extension scc" or "-extension scc+" and I don't hear any SCC/SCC+ sounds.

If you just want to play an SCC cartrdige, you don't need this at all. If you want it for some SCC demo, this should work. What software are you trying to use?

This emulator only needs a nice GUI and it will become, probably, the best.

Did you already try one of the Catapult GUIs? See the links on our web page (openmsx.sf.net/)

Catapult it's OK. But it would be better to integrate the GUI with openMSX. What does happen when the game asks me to change the disk and I change it in Catapult? Of course nothing, because it's only a launcher.

Anyway openMSX is an excellent emulator, congratulations! GREAT work and continue improving it!

You can change of disk by using the integrated console (it's like DOS in Windows) : press on F10, then you must use the command line : diska disk2.dsk, you press again on F10 and generally you must press on the spacebar to indicate to the emulated MSX that you have inserted another disk

!!!! It only works if all the disks of the game are in the same directory than the first disk !!!

Of course, a good interface would be better than this integrated command line

This is not true! It IS possible to change the disks with Catapult. Catapult is NOT 'only a launcher'.

In openMSX, the GUI (Graphical User Interface) is seperated from the main program. This way, it's very easy to develop different user interfaces, so everybody can use the one he or she likes!
There can be a simple interface, an advanced interface, a programmers interface (with debugger, memory viewer, etc), or interfaces targeted specifically at one or more games.

See the Catapult homepage for a description of its current capabilities.

Eventually all openMSX console commands will be accessible from a GUI!

Ivan: Try "-ext scc+" instead. openMSX 0.3.3 doesn't complain about unknown command line options, it just ignores them, so the "-extension" you typed had no effect. This behaviour will be fixed in the next release (it's already fixed in CVS).

mars2000you: You can insert disks from any directory, but you'll have to specify the path. I'm not sure whether directories in the Windows port should be separated using '/' or ''.

GuyveR800: The features you describe are not available yet in a released version of openMSX. The next release (0.3.4) will have a prototype of the control interface implemented, but that will be replaced by a more carefully designed and future-proof protocol in openMSX 0.4.0.

directories in Windows have to be separated with /, backslash doesn't work (first of all the parser handles them liked escape characters, but double backslashes don't work either)

Darn! Totally overlooked that he didn't write 'ext' but 'extension'... :/

Indeed, try to use the TAB key to make this more convenient! Also in Windows one should use '/' indeed.

OK, we released 0.3.4...

Soon we will release a new openMSX Catapult... which is slowly going from launcher to GUI...!

After that: what is still wrong with openMSX?

Could be cool a utility for this purpose!

Not that I know of. But I don't have the full packaged thing, only the cart itself. Someone?
The only official utility I know is called FM-PAC.

CALL FMPAC in BASIC.
