If something is true, it is that to program is an art, and it is necessary to be inspired to make it.

Come on, don't be so negative about it. It's isn't every day this occurs... at least not this fast. It only shows the activity within the community and I for one love it. I agree it's sometimes hard to keep up, but that's what the archive's for and everybody has access to that.

To Flyguille - you can already have a look at a frontpage with just one news topic, right here. |

Now that we're talking about MSX.org-improvements
What about being able to do email-subscribtion on a per-thread level ?
Now I always get an email when any message gets posted to any forum I'm subscribed to.
I would like to be able to specify which threads I want to receive notifications of.
Greetz.

I think per-thread notifications are going to be a no-go. Imagine 2000 users specifiying 6000 threads seperately. It's a lot of storage space which could very well be used for a lot of other stuff. Maybe a 'only new threads/Only threads I participate in' option is doable.

You might be correct
But it is really annoying to receive like 20 (or more) emails a day of forum posts that I'm not interested in.
Especially now that MSX.org is becoming really really popular, this will probably get even worse in the future.
Maybe you could implement a system that remembers if somebody already received notice about a new post and only sends a new notice if you visit that topic again...
So you wouldn't get a notice for every reply to the topic, you would only get a new notice if in meanwhile you visited the post again.

That's a good idea indeed. Furthermore you don't have to receive an email when you send a reply yourself. So that saves some e-mails as well... Dunno when I have the time to implement all this, but it's on the ToDo list now!

My solution: don't use email subscription, just visit regularly |

Hehe
Well, I visit as often as possible
I'll have some news soon too...
But I'm not sure if I should send it as news or just a forum post.
Could the MSX.org contact me at AsshenArgon@hotmail.com for this ?
Thanks.

You can always submit it as newspost and MRC will decide if it's suitable for the frontpage or as a forum post.

The solution is very simple
Just display catchy headlines on the frontpage, and make the actual news one click away!
This is how most news oriented sites work. The MSX.org frontpage is more like a newspaper, with Headlines , the news itself and a link to more in depth information per newsitem. Allthough the 'headlines-only' style may sound a bit dull, the actual amount of newspostings visible in one eye-catch on the frontpage is greatly increased
I vote for that! |

Or, only show the first few phrases of the message, cut off with the infamous '....'
you can also win a few pixels if you put the reactions thing at the top, next to the title, instead of in an 'extra' line at the bottom ..

I'd vote for Low_Profile. The use of headlines always keeps you update in an eyecatch.
