Can someone tell me how to boot MSX-DOS 2 from your ramdrive on a Turbo-R ?
Or modify the autoexec.bat or someting else ? If I want to edit or copy a newer version of command2.com the prompt says: "Disk write protected"
Also I Have a orginal MSX-DOS 2 Boot disc. If I insert this disk in drive a: Msx-dos 2 will not
boot, and gives a error 'wrong version MSX-DOS'
Also I have a question about the SCSI Bert Interface. If I plug it in my Turbo-r , after
booting MSX, there comes a error 'scsi internal error'. If i plug it in a MSX 2 (8280) The SCSI adaptor working perfectly. The Bert SCSI interface had DOS2 onboard also the Turbo-r has it onboard. Can that be the Problem ?

If I remember correctly this is due to a conflicting io-port that the Bert interface uses (but is already used by the turbo r). You might want to contact Hans Oranje for that (to change the io port on your interface). |

Interesting... I have no problems using a BERT interface on my turboR GT.
Although I haven't yet tried my converted MK -> BERT SCSI...
In order to start MSX-DOS2 from the GT ROM-drive, you must boot to MSX-VIEW. Use the MSX-VIEW menus to exit to DOS, and then write an AUTOEXEC.BAT in the D: (SRAM-drive) disk. Writing to C: ofcourse doesn't work, since that's a ROM-drive.
IIRC, the contents of the AUTOEXEC.BAT do not matter. The AUTOEXEC.BAT of the ROM-drive simply checks if there's an AUTOEXEC.BAT on the SRAM-drive and if so, boot that, otherwise boot MSX-VIEW.
I don't know what you mean by an 'English version' of DOS2. There is only one DOS2. The only difference between DOS2 on a japanese computer is that the backslash is replaced by the Yen-symbol for denoting directories. Note that the same thing happens on a PC running japanese Windows XP.

Fragment from the BERT bios source code.
If I remember correctly the D0-D7 io ports gave the conflict.

I wonder what's at D0-D7 then... I only know some ports in the E0-EF range for turboR.

So... You want to be able to escape from the boot to MSX-View? That is quite simple actually. If you type the AUTOEXEC.BAT on the ROM disk, you will notice it checks if there is an AUTOEXEC.BAT file on the SRAM disk. That way you can take over control, go to basic, or whatever you want.
The 'Wrong version of MSX-DOS' message can be omitted by doing a SET EXPERT ON.

I assume the disk controler (D0-D7 is reserved for that).

There is a special version of the bert that uses different ports.. First command of hans oranje on port conflict was.. A Turbo R does not meet the MSX standards.. Well anyway. Better use a different interface on Turbo R if you can get your hands on it. The bert interface very very slow

It supports multiple msx to write on partition and you used that when you had a BBS

Using the D0-D7 for a scsi controler is not that unlogical; I think the other option #30-37 conflicts with a popular modem and at that time, more of the bert users had a modem than a turbo-r. Also, you might be surprised to learn that the first version of "swap" was developed for bert, and later on the gouda team adapted this idea.
