| No perfect emulators?

Isn't it odd that there are close to perfect emulators for most systems, systems more powerfull than the msx, while msx emulation is far from perfect? Is the msx so difficult to emulate?
For example Playstation and Neogeo emulation is very advanced, but for msx you need a very powerfull machine to get good results. I was wondering why.

openMSX, NLMSX and (to a bit lesser extent) ParaMSX and MSXPLAYer are all quite close to perfect, openMSX being the most 'correct' emulator around. I think the MSX indeed isn't an easy computer to emulate but there is something else: I doubt that a lot of Playstation games push the Playstation 'to the max'.
On MSX some games and demo's coded in Assembly need extremely exact timing to make things work. If the timing of your emulator is only slightly wrong, it can cause a big mess  |

Dude, MSX emulation is FAR from easy.. Neither is C64 emulation, or Atari 2600 emulation...
In fact, emulating a PONG machine is even harder than all of those combined!
Seriously!

The FM emulation I heard sofar lacks the 'legato envelopes' .. kinda an essential thingy..

Don't forget blueMSX ... this new emulator is still better from one version to another. The next public release will surprise you (I have beta versions as I give some help to Daniel Vik), I think that blueMSX will become a good alternative for paraMSX, but I can't say no more ... so just wait and be surprised !  |

As you know by the MRC news, blueMSX 1.1.1 has been released.
Try it with some demos and you'll be happy ! Daniel Vik has made a great work for a better VRAM emulation.
There are still timing problems between Z80 and VDP, but this will be fixed in the future !

So, if you are searching for a good emulator with a good interface and easy to use, I recommand you blueMSX ! 
My TOP 3 of the best emulators :
1 - NLMSX 2 - openMSX 3 - blueMSX
If you want more accuracy and/or configurability, NLMSX and openMSX are indeed the best emulators. Besides, they emulate Turbo-R and MOONSOUND music ...
But who knows what will be the future of blueMSX ???  |
