| What exactly is the use of your voting when wammes does the definite voting ?
|
Wammes was head of the jury, we just wanted to give our opinions too Though they didn't really make a difference. |

Who voted what then? and how heavy is wammes' vote?
Why isn't the voting published?
|
Ok, let me get this straight...
While all of us worked our asses off to produce something from scratch, YOU used old, already existing, already published code for the snow effect and reached SECOND FSCKING PLACE with that, and all you can do is COMPLAIN?!
If it were up to me, you'd be disqualified... |

1. I'm not complaining, I'm just asking, since when is that a violation, are you trying to hide something? Surely looks like it with such a reaction...
2. No, it's not old code, since it's totally build up from scratch and yes, I've used idea's I used already, but they're highly extended (and again, totally remade, use a disassembler for all I care).
3. Don't think I didn't work my ass off.
4. I will not collect my prize, since I didn't compete for the prizes
5. I knew you would react this way, just wondered when it would be
6. This is the last sentence I type in this topic.

By that question you insinuate the voting wasn't honest. And with this remark, you're insinuating that again...

Then you also knew what you were saying was liable to warrant such a reaction.
You're playing a filthy game d-fader, don't think I'm not on to that. |

Sshhh shhh.... Don't make us lock yet another topic, or delete more forum posts. You guys always seem to stir things up like this. Could you both try to keep this topic a normal discussion ON topic? Please, don't continue the useless discussion about what either one of you is insinuating or reusing or whatever. Thanks guys.

Just to note; the messages previous were either about the voting (which shouldn't be discussed at all, IMO) or off-topic.
So I'm wondering, what exactly should the topic of discussion be?

"Rolling on the floor laughing" ROFL. If this is right, GuyveR800, why your lack of respect and politeness?
And BiFi, you second that ...
I just hope all the community supports all the new ideas. In this case by coding something or just doing nothing but respecting the others. |

Ofcourse I respect those who enter the MSXdev'04 competition, but as stated in its own thread, MSXdev'04 is just a even more limited MSXdev'03, and that already failed because of its limitations.
As you can see from the entries in this Snowfall Challenge, MSX1 programming isn't very popular. It's highly unlikely many of the programmers of this challenge will enter the MSXdev'04 competition.
I said "ROFL! As if!", which is short for "hahahahahahahaha, as if I would enter a MSX1 8K game competition after I just wrote a demo for high-end MSX machines (turboR, 512K RAM, Gfx9000)."
It was not a 'ROFL, your competition is laughable.'

It kind of puzzles me that people are supposedly doubting if Wammes Witkop, editor in chief of MCM and (from time to time) PC-Active, publisher of MCM, MCCM and PC-Active, and in the past years running many programming contests for both MSX and PC, can be trusted to judge the Snowfall Challenge. (By the way, I'm not only responding to the little remarks on this forum, but more to some reactions on IRC challels and MSX Mailinglsits).
As for the voring system, Wammes's votes were not 3/4, but 2/3rd of all votes. Which made Wammes definitely 'set the tone' of the results. The votes of the MRC admins and webmasters did have their effect on the ranking as well, though. However, as with other (programming) contests: this is all you need to know. Publishing the scores would not change a single bit to the Top 25 and seems totally futile. It's not about how much better (or worse) your entry is than others, it's not about the prizes and, frankly, not about the ranking either. It's about MSX. It's about developing. It's about showing that you can get many new MSX products in only 6 weeks. And it's about the fact that both developing and watching those products on MSX are very fun things to do. Same counts for MSXDev'04, which has (as far as I know) the same goals as the MRC challenges: to get more and more MSX users actively developing new software again.
Enough about the voting system. Lets focus on the other aspects of the MRC Snowfall challenge now.

Maybe it wasn't because of its limitations, only. Maybe because it was new, maybe because some people didn't know with time enough for coding (there were two possible entries which didn't make it at the end because of this reason).
I am completly sure there will be more than two entries, this time. Karoshi will do several entries and I will do another one, at least. Same people, up to the moment, but with more wish for doing things for the MSX.

What you've said it's enough for me, don't worry GuyveR800.
But don't forget it's not my competition but our competition. Everyone can code something and share it with all the MSX users.
GuyveR800, if you wrote a first place competition demo with a turbo-r, 512k, gfx9000 you can code a small 8k msx1 game, mate. In my case, I write for MSX1 and can't code for turbo-r, 512k and gfx9000 (and I have this hardware as well!!!).
We are all into this because we like it, sorry, because we LOVE IT!
Comm' on, people.
