But don't forget it's not my competition but our competition. Everyone can code something and share it with all the MSX users.

"your" was meant plural.

GuyveR800, if you wrote a first place competition demo with a turbo-r, 512k, gfx9000 you can code a small 8k msx1 game, mate.

It's not a question of whether I can, it's whether I want to.

In case you didn't know, I entered MSXdev'03 originally to create a MegaROM MSX1 game, in the style of Nemesis. Unfortunately that project got canceled, but it's still on my wishlist.

IMO writing an 8K game (on MSX1, MSX2 or MSX turboR doesn't matter) is neither a challenge nor a delight. Ofcourse everybody has a different opinion on this, this is just mine...

"Rolling on the floor laughing" ROFL. If this is right, GuyveR800, why your lack of respect and politeness?

And BiFi, you second that ...

Please don't put words in my mouth. That can make me really pissed and believe me, you don't want to experience that.

As for my words: I think it's great there are competitions. I just don't enter every one of them since I have other things to do than participating in competitions. I do think the number of entries for MSXdev'04 will be less than MSXdev'03 because of the limitations.

So please do NOT words in my mouth anymore, okay?

I'm still wondering what exactly you want us to talk about...

Don't do that Guyver. You know it's unnecessary. Now what to talk about? How about the final results of the MRC Snowfall Challenge? It's the subject of this forumtopic, so why don't we talk about that?

Are the results surprising? Or not at all?

What about the comments of the jury? Do the competitors like the comments? (mostly by Wammes, btw)?

Is this challenge and its results been fun enough to try it again some day in the future?

Are the new developers surprised with their results and are the going to compete again if there would be anothe challenge?

Maybe that are nice things to discuss in this topic?

yeah , but smaller.. I rather have 1 small compo each 3 weeks, than 1 big compo each 3 months..

Best would be: 1 compo each 3 weeks ( or month), and 1 or 2 bigger compos each year.

I already wrote here and there what the possible topics or challanges could be

Wow! You're really ambitious! 1 challenge every month, I doubt if many developers would have the time to compete that much. Though the competitorslist don't necessarily have to be the same every challenge ofcourse

Ah, is that it... I seriously had no clue.

I had a lot of fun coding the demo, and I very much liked having the freedom of interpretation of the original assignment.

A "make a demo" assignment is a lot less fun than a "make a demo involving falling snow" assignment. It gives you a headstart in the creative process, as you don't have to think about what the hell your demo will be about. And at the same time it offers a good starting point for judging.

I really hope you will create another challenge in the near future, and I'll be sure to enter it. Another demo, or a game, or even something else..

You have a great format right here, don't change it (much)!

not a complete demo each month, duh I meant smaller compos with smaller/simpler challanges.. such as: draw an rpg-figure in 32x32 pixels using 5 colors max. Or uh, create a picture in basic using the draw commands only... etc.. (ok, with the draw command you could cheat by making a bmp2draw converter, but you get the point)

-> smaller compos which are realistic to to do by 1 person within a month.
