Hi,

I'm already very glad about the opl4 support. And i did hear some say that gfx9000 support will be added, some day in the future.
But what i really would like to see is ethernet support in openMSX. I know that ethernet cards are being developed right now, but im not sure if they are already in use.

Anyway, i'd love to hack around with the OSI and such on openMSX.

So, the question is: how about this feature?? i don't care when it will be implemented, i care about the question: WILL it be implemented some day??

greets

What you are suggesting is not emulation.

i think ethernet card are in developing time... not release yet

if they're still in development, does that mean one would not call it emulation if they will become emulated after finishing their development?? LOL...

ok then, will they be emulated AFTER the development has finished??

Maybe current link systems like: MCWF (Zeeslag, Veldslag Blokslag, etc.), Konami JE-700 (F1-Spirit 3D-Special, MSX-Connect, MAD - MSX op Afstand Debugger, a system to debug routines on a remote MSX -), Joynet and several MIDI interfaces might be plugged to a network connection which enables playing link games over a network or the Internet.

You can't emulate what does not yet exist. If they're still in development there's no telling what their final characteristics and behaviour will be, hence you cannot emulate it.

For now, the Sunrise Ethernet card is more a mystery than a fact. Plans are one thing, implementation is something else.

Emulation of network techniques like JoyNET etc are possible over the internet, but hardly practical. Even in optimum circumstances there's a ~16ms latency for sending the data needed, which will result in the game running in slow-motion, or lagged. Neither is very fun to play.
There've been several emulators that attempted to play over the internet ('netplay'), but AFAIK none of them were really successful.

ah, lag is just a problem for gamers. there are almost no applications that would suffer from having latency.

ur right about not being able to emulate that what doesnt exist, but that is quite obvious isnt it? but it's also too obvious that you have to make a note of it. why do you think i used the word emulation? pff

anyway, perhaps sunrise can tell us something about their mysterious ethernet card.
