| There were no licensed games on Brazil. At all. Even the ones from Gradiente and Sharp were bootlegs. Not even the computers they sold were officially licensed!
(This is one of the reasons Gradiente does not publish any info about MSX on their website even nowadays...)

Disk and tape based games.
I strong disagree, there was some legal products (that could not work in foreign computers, since their aren't "officially released MSX games" .Like the text adventures or game clones published on Magazines and Books!
Lists of games are legally published, there was even a lot of translated books. Sure, the books were sold without a (tape) companion.
Game software.
Cartridges.
Their were "Grey Market" products ... Gradiente also had unlicensed Nintendo 8-bits stuff. Later, Gradiente got a legal license from Nintendo.
Software houses and publishers.
In fact most persons were only buying EPROM boards and chips packed into a attractive form, much like 'paying only the media". No license after all, even the MSX name was used without (Microsoft) license for most cases.
In the past, it was illegal to import I.T. products. There was the questionable method of selling not licensed stuff (remember, it was forbidden to import things). Gradiente and Sharp also had some sort of deal to make original stuff, for some weird factors not much Brazilian software was made for MSX. This could be original contend ...
Like always, there was lots of requested (even for Microsoft MSX-BASIC) software. Even some (not successful) contests on magazines about MSX!
Weird, really strange ...

About that Castle games. There was one magazine named CPU, that was reviewing the game. If someone managed to finish the game and send the letter the person would gain the software used to take the screen shots of the game (it was possible to take and print MSX screens). Later their told that everyone that wanted to send sealed letters with floppy disks could have the software.
Strange, not everybody had capture software for MSX computers. Other popular software was MSX-DEBUG. There was another software to see the spectrum wave of the data corder input ...

Some sites provides informations about possible licensed stuff for Atari 2600 VCS and Nintendo systems (Nintendo 8-bit , Super NES,Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64 , NGC). In this case Gradiente products were more or less legally licensed ...
Wikipedia
Well, maybe 'video-game' licenses don't cover "computer" cartridges after all ...
Obvious, Philips was the owner of the Odyssey technology. To bad that Philips only sold Odyssey stuff on Brazil. |

That's not true. Odyssey stuff was sold in all europe by Philips and by Phillips licensees as Radiola. It was sold in USA by Philips of America trough its partner Magnavox. |

Magnavox Odyssey²
I think that some people believe into this:
Philips = Magnavox
Gradiente = Polyvox
Gradiente / Atari 2600
Philips / Odyssey
What part is not true?
Is there any other Philips Odyssey around?
It was named "Magnavox" Odyssey 2 into other markets ...
Sure, Philips sold stuff into other countries too. On Brazil they were "forbidden" to sell their own stuff. On North America their were forbidden to sell their ownK.C. Munchkin! and K.C.'s Krazy Chase!

Maybe your confussion is in the name, not in the Phillips name but in Odissey. All stuff from Odissey2 ( and even Odissey 3 that was only prototype in USA) was marketed in Europe as Videopac and Videopac+. So Yes, there exists a whole brand of stuff from Phillips sold in Europe under Videopac name that is exactly the same as Odissey2. |

There were no Brazilian licensed carts. The Brazilian software that was sold (like text adventures) was all made by Brazilian people.
