| Question about Mbwave-emulation

Although I'm a total numbskull when it comes to things like these, I managed to create a disk image containing Mbwave, command.com and msxdos.sys
NLMSX acknowledges this disk image, because when i type "files", the proper files do appear on the screen.
However, msx-dos won't run. Not after booting, and not in the "manual" way either. When I type "poke&hf346,1" and "call system", it says "Syntax Error" (?) or simply clears the screen.
I can't find the solution to this in the FAQ. If someone can tell me what I should do, I would be very, very obliged. I'll make a song for you! |

*edited* It seems the webmaster put the topic in the appropriate section. Cheers!

No worries  {Moved the topic to the Emulation topic}
Are you sure your bootsector is OK? It seems like it still contains something else than an MSX bootsector to me. |

Maybe you should run MSX DOS from another disk image, switch disks and then run MBWAVE.

Sounds like a non-MSX bootsector indeed.

I made a disk image with just msx-dos on it.
So now, I get the Ok-prompt after typing call system.
Trying to boot the disk makes the emu go berzerk.
However, thanks for the advice anyway.
Hmmm, I wish I knew more about this stuff. Could it be that I'm using the wrong utility to create the image? (WinImage, to be exact)
*Aaargh* Could someone *please* just send me a proper Mbwave disk image over e-mail?
It's JohnHassink@hotmail.com
You'd make my day. Wait, make that a month, or a year. |

WinImage OBVIOUSLY creates diskimages with a PC bootsector! So there is no way you can boot MSX-DOS from them!

Thanks for DSKexplorer Arjan, but I'm struggling for hours with it and I can't get it work.
If I want to add a file I get "Access violation at address ******** in module 'DSKEXPLORER.EXE'. Read of address FFFFFFFF."
You guys must be getting crazy already with me asking those stupid questions.
Maybe God didn't plan it for me to make some MoonSound-noises again. |

hmm I think there are also some utils that can copy an MSX bootsector to an image, downloadable @ msx.org. Then you can just use winimage to create the images and patch the bootsector with the other util.

Indeed. Get a real floppy. Format it with MSXForm, add the MSX DOS files and MBWAVE to it. Create a DISK Image. Enjoy!
(why didn't I think of that earlier) |

Erm... read only? That's normally the lil' black shutter on the bottom-left edge of the disk (when viewing its front), but it's a normal file attribute on a pc. Most obviously:
- Right Mouse Button
- 'Eigenschappen'
- and deselect the 'Alleen-lezen' thing
It should be working I think |
