Most underrated games? Vampire by CodeMasters (great atmosphere, nice graphics for an English title), Feud by Bulldog (very original game concept and really fun to play) and Rollerball by HAL (the best pinball game ever).

Actually, VAMPIRE is neither a Code Masters' original nor an english game. It was coded and published originally in Spain by Dinamic Software under the name PHANTOMAS 2.

I believe that one of the best european MSX1 games ever made is TEMPTATIONS, an excellent arcade/platform game combination that pushes MSX1 capabilities to their limit: colourfull graphics, smooth animation, lots of screens and really addictive. And very hard to advance!

If you haven't tested it, better have a look. It may surprise you.

Kind regards,

Ed Robsy

The most underrated MSX-game is Iaire. Dunno if that's the way you spell it. You're trying to find the exit of a maze while youre chased by a pinkish monster...

It's in 3D (screen 3) and the soundeffect are really great. The closer the monster gets the more nervous the sounds. Great game.

Konami's Billiard ... (or was it from HitBit ? )

Nothing shocking in terms of gfx/sound etc. But excellent gameplay!

Do you know if there's a PHANTOMAS 1 as well then? A prequel to Vampire?

Yes, PHANTOMAS (with no number) was one of the first games released by Dinamic. The problem is that it was never ported to MSX. There is an Spectrum version that is really great. The map is not that big as in PHANTOMAS 2, but the game has really good graphics, lots of surprises and humor. A must.

Regards,

Ed Robsy

There are 3 versions of it with exactly the same gameplay: Computer Billiards (released by Sony, containing a menu to choose the number of players and controls), Konami Billiards (released by Konami, containing a little hand in the intro to select 1 or 2 players and both joystick and keyboard work at the same time) and Video Hustler (released by Konami, containing a menu to choose the number of players and controls).

Hello there !:
It´s been a long time - too much I think - without posting messages here, but now i take a chance to recover a bit of this lost time ! :-P

Some games that I liked and can be in this poll could be :

Alpha Blaster : The very first game that i´ve played on my old vg8020.Pure shooting arcade with some nice improvments, like the eternal asteroid belt.thousands of hours playing with this shootr

Treppy:Incredible simple game, also found in the cassette compilations of phillips and made in spain (?),but a very nice gameplay - recently i found a disk version, what a memories came out -.

Abu Simbel Profanation : The best platform game ever made in spain.Balanced gameplay, but irritant hard for moments.

Temptations : Great game.another hard but very well done platform kinda.I haven´t finished yet! :-P

Demand : Another shooter and incredible diagonal scroll for a zaxxon kinda game.

Crossblaim : for me,the metroid for MSX.Interesting game

And that´s what i can remember, sure that i forget some games, but this is my selection :

Aaah! How could I forgot to mention this one?? Very great gameplay and
musics. The only think I don't like of this game, is that the PSG volume is too high, so I can't hear the musics very well... :-(

If there is someday a poll to nominate the game with the best graphics ever, I will for sure vote for this one. Besides the main music is really lovely.
