If you had said "I think Green Beret should win this poll", then you would have been indoctrinating (a bit).
But in stead you said "I expect Green Beret to win", just like people say "this and this political party is expected to win this election".

Well, do not underrate the significance of the word 'somehow'. In this context, the word 'expect' means "to consider probable or certain", 'somehow' adds a sense of indetermination to that meaning. IMO Latok's sentence cannot be misconstrued.
