I have a question about Moonsound SRAM (128 kb that could be extended to 2Mb)

Is this SRAM acting like any other SRAM ? For example, if I load samples ("waves" in the SRAM and then turn off the MSX; are the samples still there when I turn on the MSX ?

As there are very little programs that use the Moonsound SRAM, I'm a little confused about that. For example, Moonblaster for Moonsound allows to save on disk, but not in the SRAM ....

AFAIK, no. SRAM is just a RAM that doesn't need "refresh". If you turn off your MSX you will lost your loaded samples, since there is not a battery connected to the SRAM in MoonSound cartridge.
Probably other persons could give a better and longer explanation about this

Hm, I didn't know that the MoonSound RAM was SRAM. Would it be possible / has anyone ever tried to hook up a bettery to the MoonSound?

Just wondering,

I guess it would work. Well, assuming that by bettery you mean a very good battery I think that's pretty much how the FM-PAC works, though I don't know jack about hardware. Maybe if you look the part number of the SRAM up on the internet you can find out what kind of power (voltage & current) it requieres. It shouldn't be too hard to hookup a rechargeable battery to the SRAM chip. I don't really see the use of it tho... Well, maybe it can double as a RAMdisk

Just for fun & to save loading time after power-down

Well, hook the thing up to your car battery and let us know what happens

(Mostly we'd be interrested in the color of the smoke ; )
