Some people seems to believe that openMSX has far better emulation than the other emulators. I can create a quite long list of things where other emulators (NLMSX and blueMSX) are doing a better job with emulation than openMSX

I have two very good test apps that you can add to the test suite:
- the demo Turnix 2
- the game Ark-A-Noah.

Can you please report the problems you have with software on openMSX to us? We would appreciate that very much!!
We already have a bug report for Turnix, but as far as I know, Ark-A-Noah runs fine. Please file a bug report for any other problems you experience in openMSX!

Here you have one.
The latest release of BleuMSX is the first EMU that the colors of "Starship Rendez vous" stage Michelle correct displays on my computer. (in the 2+ mode)

Seems to work just fine on openMSX, at least on the latest CVS version:

I'm using the same systemroms on all the Emu's I have installed, but OpenMSX won't work with it (I use copy's of roms from my own Philips 8250 2+)
re-edit
To complte the info.
I installed the windows version of OpenMSX.

openMSX emulates specific MSX machines. So, you should use the ROMs that belong to the machine you're emulating. However, the Boosted MSX2 config of last release is based on the Philips NMS 8250, so you can use the ROMs of that machine for this config. I don't know what machine those 'generic' ROMs are from, but they will most likely work with a machine like the 8250 (although I haven't tested that). You just need to rename them or change the filenames in the config of the 8250.

So, for your case, you should be able to either use your ROMs with the 8250 config, or change the 8250 config so that it matches your real machine better. Then they should really work. But probably they'll just work with a default 8250 config as well, since they also work in other emulators as you mentioned.

Ark-A-Noah runs fine.

The first scan line has some unwanted white dots (running 0.3.4). I found this minor bug yesterday. It seems like you changed the overscan to correct overscan in Unknown Reality. Maybe that broke Ark-A-Noah...

The last few days I found some other problems in openMSX as well (when comparing next blueMSX release with openMSX 0.3.4). I can compile a list and send to you. (I did send one to Wouter already and hopefully it is fixed in 0.4.0) All these findings are minor though.

The only major bugs I found so far in openMSX is a moonsound bug (already reported), mouse emulation in general and the Turnix 2 demo which does not run at all.

Wow, what a woman.
I've tryed countless things, rename, split roms, fresh install, but what I try, nothing works, I'm crying. That woman staying unreachable.
Well, I'll try it again.

dvik: please send a list to openmsx-devel mailinglist.
I don't see any unwanted white dots in openMSX CVS, with pixel acc and Boosted MSX2. AFAIK overscan wasn't changed for UR, but if it was, that was a loooong time ago. More than 1.5 years, I think.

The Moonsound bug should be fixed and Turnix is a bug in Turnix itself, which happens to be no problem on a real MSX and some really minor in-depth low level VDP timing issue in openMSX seems to cause it to crash in openMSX.

legacy: join us on IRC if you can't work it out...

I have not tried the latest CVS code so hopefully fixed in 0.4.0

I'll send the bug list to the mailing list. I'll redo my tests tomorrow so I don't send an incorrect report. Btw, do you want me to wait to 0.4.0? Maybe the problems are fixed already.

I looking forward to see the new major release of openMSX !!!!

dvik, if you come to our IRC channel, you can get a current CVS build to test with. Shouldn't be much different from 0.4.0, but maybe we can even fix the problems before 0.4.0 release...!

About test programs: If I may introduce a nice little gem...

There is this very nice little demo on Maggoo's page
It is the 'Sync vertical scrolling' demo effect and can be downloaded from
http://users.skynet.be/bk263586/verti.zip' target='_blank'> http://users.skynet.be/bk263586/verti.zip
AFAIK no emulator runs this perfect (no, not even openMSX)
just run it on The Real Thing and look at the width of the bars to see the difference.

And if somebody wants to do me a personal favor: Please add an entry in the matrix to indicate if I can run the emulator under Linux using Wine or something, because for the moment I'm restricted to use (SDL-)fmsx and openMSX. And I hesitate to install wine if I'm not sure that it will be worth the hassle

A friend of mine did run blueMSX in wine but that was a while ago. If this still works it is definately worth the hassle

Hurray, Hurray . I've OpenMSX on the run and it shows the correct colors of "Michelle"
What did I wrong? The config file was searching in the wrong directory, and all the time i didn't see it.
Now I can taste a bit of the moonsound and the other possibility's

Leave her alone, she is mine.
One day if I walk ( better shuffle) with her on the street, you may have a look at her.

I don't look at women over 40. Yet And I definitely don't shuffle with them!
