I think evolution (God, if you like) came with penguins before Konami did, though

About 'Konami used to rule'. They still do, just like Falcom. Unfortunately some of the coolest games they create never make it out Japan :/

Sorry, I don't believe in any god. I should've known better and changed it into 'used'.

Quote:

And Sonic seems to have forgotten Konami was already commercial in the ol' MSX days. Why else did they stop producing MSX software targeted at Europe? Sales dropped due to other means of obtaining software (how nice I am now, huh? ).

They were indeed a commercial, or better put professional entertainment software developer. I think that back then they were less preoccupied with sales figures. If I look at their titles their main thought must have been 'If we make a good game it will most likely sell enableing us to make a profit' and not 'How can we make as much money as possible with the least amount of investment and time'.

For me there's a big difference. For me 'sad-ass commercial dollar factories' are those companies that worry little about their product and more about how much profit it could make them. A classic example of the phenomenon were the movie-based game titles in the late eighties which were all *incredibly bad* games that would none-the-less sell because they had a movie title smacked on them.

I *think* Metal Gear was not made to make a lot of money, but made to be a good game. Making a good game *usually* ensures you will also make some money in the process. I'm just guessing ofcourse, but I think this must have been a rule of thumb for some time for Konami. I say this because they have made quite a few innovative projects. Innovation implies change which in turn implies risk. Not something commercial companies are willing to take...

Ofcourse if any companies can no longer ensure that at least developing costs are met, they will have to focus no a different computer system. I guess Konami was 'forced' out of MSX and this was not done by choice. Well, my guess that is, if I look at Metal Gear 2 and SD-Snatcher which seem to have a lot of effort put into them. But hey, all in the past

Nice analysis, about Konami, Sonic Wish there were more companies with a similar strategy nowadays. Konami already isn't so special anymore. Especially in Japan, Konami's just mainstream. Buying a Konami game doesn't automatically mean buying a good game anymore, unfortunately.

Are those indeed the wishes and opinion of MRC?
If not, I'll refer to http://www.msx.org/forumtopic3090p15.html bottom post.

You can ignore me all you want, Rikusu. {moderated} You can't claim 'out of context' on this one, and even the last time you did it wasn't the case. You have standards you impose on others but not on yourself, and other standards you claim to abide by are apparently worth nothing.

GuyveR800, our forum policy clearly states one of the basic rules of every discussion board: be nice to other people. Although we believe in little moderation you have really crossed the line now. I suggest you start being nice to all people on our forums, including the MRC admins and moderators.

I demand an apology and full rehabilitation, on the frontpage!
MRC doesn't even have the common courtesy to reply to messages (either on the forum board, or through e-mail).
It is ridiculous to hide in such a way from your responsibilities...

I already spent more than enough words on this discussion, GuyveR. If you still have problems, don't hesitate to spam my mailbox, but please stop annoying other visitors with this.

You (and MRC) spend a lot of words, but you are not really saying anything.

You accuse me of taking things out of context when they are not, you make statements about always speaking in name of MRC, but you seem to speak in personal terms nevertheless.

When I confront you with this, you ignore me.

I write emails to MRC, and I'm ignored.

With these and other facts, you and MRC have insulted my honor and damaged my reputation. I will settle for no less than apologies and full rehabilitation on the frontpage.

I don't believe I gave you authorization to copy full messages written by me on the mailinglist here. I would like to have this message removed, as it violates my copyrights.

As for your question what's happening here at MRC, there is a lot more happening than meets the eye.
However, MRC likes to think it's North Korea and doesn't have to play fair. They like to keep up appearances, and try to cover up things that make them look bad.

I'm one of those things that make them look bad.

I've been used as a scapegoat by them, they let me linger, they've made false accusations, discriminated against me, they infringe my rights, in short: they fucked me over.

All I want is justice, so I can resume to enjoy MSX the way I used to, without stigma.
