It's possible, since MSX2 first saw the light in 1985.

Can't he and/or Rieks translate them?

There's so many pieces of information locked away in those japanese docs....

They would be valuable information for the MSX Assembly Page.

Does Laydock have a screensplit? I thought it doesn't. The complete screen is scrolling, I believe.

Well... The logo appears damn smooth. Could it be a split screen with Screen6 and 0, 40 characters, or so? The characters appear to be made in screen 0, that is...

The MSX2 bootscreen is not a screensplit. It copies the logo one line at a time and uses R#23 to scroll it upward. The MSX2+ logo is more advanced. The letters are simply made wider by that print routine. I agree it could've been a screensplit, though it would've been more like a SCREEN6/SCREEN1 screensplit (or more likely SCREEN6/SCREEN5). In SCREEN 0 the characters are closer to each other.

Ah! I recall its name. It's Lyra-2 I believe. Has anyone additional info on this one? Meanwhile, I'll search for the freakin' thing

MSX1 splits are very well possible, but that's more or less stuff for Plutonium or equal coders Those Finnish guys, like Bandwagon and Lieves!Tuore would most likely know more about this.



The Lyra II demo really is great material! (I just discovered it a year ago)

Well RADARSOFT were the first dutch grew using splits. They used them all of the time. Even their Dynamic Publisher is equiped with a split!

The credits for the (dutch) amateur scene, in this case, go to Cas Cramers. He used it in ARC (one of his games) and later explained the trick on a Genic Disk magazine (!)
Although around that time I was discovering the same dark areas of screen splitten (read: multiple interrupts).. but Cas beat me to it... fair is fair.

the MSX scene (demos) is flooded with splits.... our (fuzzy) first demo had one too.. remember the Bullshit demo? yeah, that one with the dancing sprites and... a screensplitted scrolla. Another one is the FRMH release promo demo (it had the first sinus wave scroll in the scene... or atleast one of the first)

The first real smooth scrolla was the one on the SD-Snatcher crack from Starcracks... really blew my head of ("I want that!"

Are you sure, ro? About that first scene scroller? The early FAC DEMOS are from the late 80s and they have scrollers as well. That Starcracks scroller from SD Snatcher is from 1990.

And what about The Virus Demo? Don't know if that SCC demo contains scrollers as well. Ah well, Cas Cremers was part of that demogroup as well, right?

And what about LIGHTNING?! The, I believe, first megademo with lots of scrolls, bouncing sprites etc. etc. Also from Starcracks
