Hi, I am new in MSX scene and I am learning ASM. But I need a real MSX to go further. If someone has a MSX2 or MSX2+ to sell, or knows someone who ahs one to, I am willing to buy it.

Also, the seller must agree to sell worldwide, since I am from Brazil adn still living here

Thanks for the audience.

I think that a REAL MSX computer is a good thing to buy, but actually you do not need it to learn assembler. A cross-assembler is a more confortable tool that enables you to assemble your programs in a PC, and also to edit your source code with any text editor. Then, a good emulator with a debugger built-in allows to do some serious debugging while watching the final result as well as all hardware states.

Anyway, that MSX2 is cool! A japanese SONY computer is always interesting. The only problem is that it only has 64 KB of RAM, am I wrong?

Regards,

Ed Robsy

Thanks for the sugestions Ed. But I already do it. Assemble in cross-assembler and debbug with emulators. But I really want the real hardware to see how my programs are doing in true machines, especially notting that many demos don´t run properly in emus.

to dhau: I am thinking seriously in buying your system. But, seeing that you sell some acessories, I will try to find more brazilians to buy with me, so that the shipping price get lower. And there are lots of ´em that wants to buy some.

Then you are right. That is what I do: I code in my notebook and when everything works fine on emulators I test the programs in "the real thing". I use a CF-IDE in my MSX and a Flash Card that I pass from my PC to it: it is the fastest way that I know.

Mmmm... You would better get all that hardware, because it is all that you will need: SCC/FM-PAC/Music Module is the perfect trio, and perhaps you would like to buy somewhere a Moonsound. About the other hardware, an SCSI interface is useful and a Flashable ROM cart is a bless if you want to play ROM games.

Get a credit and/or ask for a discount!

Discount? Prices don't get much lower than that... Well, except for the MSX-Audio maybe, although it's not at all bad for an Audio cart with 256kB RAM and the keyboard... Ofcourse 64kB is way too little, but that can be solved with about $10 worth of harware and half an hour of soldering... Heck, we all know dhau can do the upgrade, maybe you should ask him for that computer with 256kB for US$ 60,-

I know that, but WiseDuck was complaining about the price being too expensive for the whole set.

Adding all these elements, you get a fairly equiped MSX2 computer. And if you add some more RAM and MSX2+ BIOS and an extra V9958 then you have a cool MSX2+ system.

Maybe an slotexpander will be useful, because with all the extensions you need more than 2 slots

Actually if you are in Brazil, you guys have a very strong MSX hardware development scene. The best option would be to buy an Expert 1.1 and ACE motherboard from MSX Projectos. I have MSX Projectos mini slot expander - it is of very good quality.

... uh, sorry for misinformation:

ACE95 motherboard is for PC AT case, and uses passibe MSX keyboard from Expert 1.x

I think there was another motherboard, Extert 3, which was MSX2/MSX2+ and was fitting in original Gadiente Expert case.

to dhau: I am aware of the brazilian comunity, that`s why I don`t all the accessories. But some of the other guys here may want to "study" the hardware and make their brazilian counterparts. About the Expert 1.1, I don`t want it, since what I need is a MSX2 system and the upgrade kits turned to be rare even here in Brazil. About ACE, it just don`t atract me.

Also, I already found a guy here who wants your SCSI interface

to pitpan: I can`t buy all these things, even with discount. I am just a student yet (Computer Science or Ciência da Computação em português). And students here in Brazil hardly can make some good money.

Hey Wiseduck, please let us know what did you buy and how much did you pay

As well, this Public Domain MK SCSI controller clone from Leonardo Padial is still here, hoping someone can buy it and hook up some SCSI periferials to it
