Hi all,

I'm the proud owner of a Philips VG 8245, which works just fine, but I would like to expand the memory (since I would like to experiment with Uzix in combination with the Sunrise IDE interface). Is there anyone who has a memory expansion pack for sale?

Alternatively, I'd also be willing to buy a complete computer with at least 512K RAM.

You can contact me via roland@vanrijswijk.org

I wouldn't recommend stunting with Uzix on a MSX 2. It runs much like an advanced snail race. I have a Turbo R FS-A1ST and it even runs slow on that machine (but still faster than on a MSX2)...

Thanks for the warning I don't really care about the speed, I just want to experiment with it and take a look at the way the OS was constructed...

Still, Turbo-R's aren't that expensive anymore... It's a really nice computer to have, and remember that it'll usually run at least 5 times as fast as a normal MSX. You'd have to spend some money on a mapper anyways... might as well front a little more cash and get yourself a whole new MSX experience. Especially with and IDE harrdisk a Turbo-R will just shine. Well... Just a thought... You could always sell your old MSX2 afterwards to make up for the difference in price. In the end it shouldn't cost you more than 75 euros extra.

turboR's cost more now than they did in 1996... So I don't know what you call 'not that expensive anymore'.

How much was the price in 1996?

rklok did huge dumping for TurboR prices - he's really cool

A GT was 600 guilders back then, not counting inflation, about 270 euros.
An ST was about 400 guilders, about 180 euros.

Woah, it is cheap

I paid about 400 euro for my GT, about half year before rklok started selling tonns of STs and GTs and reduced the price of GT to 300 euro
