| 1.44 MB floppy disk on MSX

This is the first time i post a topic so, it may already been answered/questioned.
We all know that it is possible to put a pc diskdrive into a MSX, but can somehow the DOS kernel be modified to read high density disks?
is it worth it? (the work to program it, assuming that it's possible)
i guess that the bus drive has to/should be also modified.
has anyone done something similar?

It's possible if you replace the FDC (Floppy Drive Controller) chip with one that's capable of reading them. Then you need to rewrite the complete Disk ROM because of the different FDC.

IDE controller and a LS-120 floppy drive, and you can read/write to 1.44 MB floppies without any problems!

I thought it would not be worth it, anyway with that IDE controller and the floppy drive, can the system boot with those disks?

Absolutely, but only with MSX-DOS2
Some programs refuse to work with MSX-DOS2  |
