True, size of this baby sucks (full AT case), but then again, Sprinter 2000 is available for 4 years, and it's predecessor Sprinter 97 was around forever. And one-chip-msx is in "early development stage" forever as well

I've looked it up. It is the t9769c. It is also used in the turbo r and sanyo msx2+ computers. This chip can run on higher freq then 3.54Mhz.

The msx faq is now updated. We have checked several pictures of 2+ computers and non of them have a z80b. They all have (sony 2+ is not checked yet) the same chip. There are 2 different versions t9769C (also used in Turbo R) and t9769b. This is also the "msx-engine" of the 2+

So, if PPI, PSG, memory mapper and CPU are included in the MSX-ENGINE, just add the VDP and some RAM and ROM and you will have a full one-chip MSX.

Yeah, MSX engine joins several MSX chips in one. I think that ASCII and Nishi were projecting a One-Chip MSX since those very early years...

Btw, as msd said, MSX FAQ is updated, no more references to Z80B in a Panasonic MSX 2+.

In Tilburg 2001 Nishi already admitted his goal for the MSX was to become a one-chip computer indeed.

It's a standalone CPU, but I can't tell the model, because it is covered with a passive heatsink.

I was bullshiting you folks, Z80 core is indeed in T9769C core (big 144 pin chip on the back side of FX/WX/WSX computers). The big chip with heatsink is ofcourse VDP V9958.

Hehe, I am getting a batch of 10 Z80C008 (8MHz certified). Hope I can use one of those to install turbo mode in one of my counless MSX computers.

The only viable way to do it is at the moment the Alwin Henseler Superturbo design.
Description is available at my website in the MSX Do it Yourself section.

Yes, my Sony HB-G900P also runs on 8MHz with Alwin's pcb.
