Another not so common but very good (and hard!) shump is ADONIS.

I remember when I got the hang of it, managed to reach level 2 iirc, and at one point the game froze! Reached this point for a second time and froze again!

Recently I tried using an emulator hoping that my copy was bad, but nope, the damn game always freezes at this point!

Sorry about the off-topic, but does anyone know why does this happen? unfinished game maybe???

Gradius 3 legends. Definately the most difficult game ever!

Hi all,

The 3 hardest space shoot in my opinion are,

1) Salamander (If you die in Lavinia.....restart and play again)
2) KnightMare (Not a space shoot but is the same style - This game could be ended only with 99 lives - Anyone remember the secret for 99 lives ?)
3) Zanac Ex (Difficult but not impossible);

Hard shoot em up's. I always found Salamder very difficult, until of course I cheated using Games Master I wrote a review of Salamder back in 1987 for a MSX magazine called MSX TECH.

1. Salamander
2. Nemesis 3
3. Nemesis 2 (although with QBert it is an easy game! finished it with the help of Qbert )

Well, my first MSX game ever was a quite difficult shoot'em-up: SPACE BUSTERS, from Aackosoft (or was it Bytebusters?). Lovely tune, lovely graphics, a well done SPACE INVADERS rip-off. I prefer it to the official TAITO's conversion for MSX.

Sure?... I always thought I made the game too easy... try to play with autofire, anyway.

For me, Andorogynus and Famicle Parodic (1) are really hard to beat.

Well, lv1 is playable, but the end of lv2, it's definately a hell! Now I admit I'm not a die-hard player, if it comes to that . Nevertheless, I've tried my best

If you get stuck in stage 2, be prepared for next levels!
As I told you the use of autofire it's very recommended.

By the way, have you ever played with the hidden spaceship??... press "V" on the selection screen.

Nice one! Will try it when I've got some spare time...

And it also seems that the game isn't working correctly on an European (expanded) MSX2+. That is, the title screen looks somewhat weird, as for that white block in the middle. Perhaps you use direct codes from the JIS ROMs? The European lacks them, you know . My A1ST displays the game perfectly

Yes, the game editor makes use of the kanji rom.

I think that I just could finish the 5 stages of Space Trouble and I was near the end of Kyokugen...

For me they are all difficult these shoot'em ups for MSX!!!

Kyokugen is doable, until the part where you get shot into space (final stage??) Damn, that stage is completely undoable!

Ah come on man! Kyokugen is one of the easiest games around. For instance, it's definately easier than Aleste or Aleste 2!
