I hope that the new Nintendo DS would be powerfull enough to handle properly an MSX emulator. It could be great to use one screen for MSX screen emulation and the other one, with the touch panel interface, emulate a complete keyboard, adjust emulation parameters or, why not, just make it a debugging screen for portable MSX development!

Where can I find its technical specifications?

Too bad that the policies of Sony (and a bit of Microsoft) who are - according to Iwata - alienating many gamers are the same policies that sold 100 million Playstations. Before Sony did their thing, there weren't enough gamers to sell 100 million of anything. The way Sony and Microsoft have handled their parts of the market has attracted many "new" gamers to the gaming world. The Nintendo DS and the PSP both will do the same. I do agree with Iwata that the innovation has suffered but more on the software side than on the hardware side. But Nintendo often innovates to innovate, not because it's usefull. The DS games I played with the touchpad had serious design flaws for a handheld game.

Oh and Pitpan, the DS has an ARM7 and an ARM9 processor, I would say you should be able to write an MSX emu for it.

they're just complaining because they don't want the same thing to happen as when the PSX entered the market ah well, I guess both the DS and the PSP will have their own markets. I prefer GT4 over Mario Kart anytime, Final Fantasy over Zelda, ... Nintendo games are not really my style.

I have some doubts about the current DS setup, it looks like it's not easy to use the touch screen and the d-pad at the same time. And it's doesn't look as slick as the PSP Hopefully Nintendo will change it's design.

Actually it is impossible to use the D-Pad, the stylus AND hold the damn thing at the same time. The big N forgot about the HAND-HELD thing

But Mario Kart kicks GT's ass! I don't like racing games that much, but I do like Mario Kart. Too bad there is only one true Mario kart: the SNES version!

I guess it's either stylus or d-pad, depending on game type

The DS is cool - but now I think they need to take it back into the design phase to make it look as slick as the PSP ^_^.

I wouldn't worry about the D-pad vs. the touch screen, obviously developers know that you can't handle both at the same time . And many times they will probably give you the possibility to use both, except when they make special use of the touch screen (just like the on the PS2 usually the D-pad and the analog stick both work, even though you can only handle one).

Btw, if you want to see some nice demonstration movies (some very cool, such as the er, 'grinding', demo), head to http://gameboy.ign.com/ .

Actually the first game I played was Metroid...where you move with the D-Pad, and aim with the stylus on the touchpad. Of course Nintendo had the DS Units locked in a pod, so you didn't have to hold them, at that time, not too many people noticed that if they wouldn't have been locked, you wouldn't be able to play that game.

It so easy: your Nintendo DS should be over your knees. Use both hands to control D-Pad and buttons, and the stylus with your mouth. Voi-la! So you can use all the controls available...
