Hey All,
Just a little quick question... Two things, actually... There appear to be some nice MSX2+ computer by Panasonic that have a 6MHz mode. As I understand it, you need to check the manufacturer' ID on I/O port $40 (write / read $08) and then set bit 0 of I/O port $41 to 0. Is this correct? Supposedly setting it back to 1 will switch this off again...
The other is that there's supposed to be a Brazillian(?) MSX thingy called CIEL that appears to have a turbo mode as well... Anyone know about this? And if so... How could I activate/deactivate this turbo? An while we're at it... Is there perhaps any other company that might have installed 7MHz linked to any I/O port?
Just wanted to know so I can automatically activate turbo thingies when I depopcom data... Btw, do the Panasonic 2+'s have a led somewhere to indicate the turbo is on? Well, anyways... Thanks in advance...

I know... But it only has info on the MSX2+ models... It pretty much says the same as the info that I had... But what I don't understand is how to check if the model actually has the '6MHz' upgrade...
Also I'm really interrested in the CIEL thingies.... It'd be nice for those people to set their computers to turbo mode when decrunching... I think I read somewhere this could be done by software... Not sure tho...

I have a "normal" 7.16Mhz z80, it's always on. (can't be turned off/on by software) and maybe that's a good thing. I want to deside when it's on or not.

Yeah... but I'm about to do some time critical stuff too, so it's nicer for me if I can turn it OFF when it needs to be. People with a "normal" 7Mhz will have bad luck tho, the program won't even start if it's on... |

Several MSX models from Brazil use a Turbo mode.
This feature is not from the factory. Only a special mode for normal MSX 1 (or newer).

But that's not the same a the CIEL models, right? Do you know if those can be activated by software? (It would also be nice to know their speed)

I think that there is a external switch . Some functions could be done in software.
Wasn't a problem when you replace the clock and use a Z80B CPU?

No, it is not the same. This was a optional Turbo Kit for MSX computers.
CIEL is a new company. In the past there was a ton of companies with MSX products here in Brazil.

Yes, I think that one version could be actived by software.
