Didn't Mastertronics do Hype? That game rules!
Rikusu: should I really remind you of the ATP? |

Con-dori and dip-dip come to mind. Not to mention the plethora of amateur Basic games.

Are you kidding? I admit it´s a hard game but I finished once in my life. I haven´t tried again!
But anyway, I doesn´t look like a MSX2 Konami game. Look at the graphics, Metal Gear or Usas have better !
Salu2.

You haven't seen the 'Seed of Dragon' entry, now have you?
I'd say the following: the worst game on each system:
- MSX1: Konami's Green Beret (no doubt!)
- MSX2: The Red Lights of Amsterdam (basically, the digitizations are CRAP!)
- MSX2+: Megadoom (never seen such a boring shooter)
- MSX Turbo R: Riverhill's Seed of Dragon (The intro is one of the best, yet the game sucks ass! Scroll isn't smooth at all (V9958 could handle this!) and GFX are worse than bad!)

Contra isn't that hard really. But I agree with you when you say it's a bit 'NES-like', Konamito. |

Or Pico Pico. Although it's a Micro Cabin it's one of the worst games I know.
Snout: would be too much honour to nominate a game I created myself, wouldn't it? Besides, ofcourse The ATP already came out as the best game ever (what do you say? it didn't? euhhmmmm....) |

Hmm... the start of a new mega poll?
Knowing Konami standards (based on the other MSX titles that are made in Japan) Green Beret is indeed below that. But that is because the complete game has Brittish written all over it. The game itself is actually quite nice, but: - the graphics could have been much better
- the sound might have been more musical as there's only one real tune in the entire game
- the controls could've been a bit better. Konami Japan never used the SHIFT key for player 1 keyboard controls, only player 2
The only thing that's more annoying than crap in Oh Shit are the samples. For the rest is 100% the original Pacman.
If someone nominates MCWF's Four On A Row, I'd agree.
Latok already nominated Not Again!, Rikusu wouldn't dare to nominate ATP as he made it himself... I can't nominate it as I even don't know the game at all.
Maybe too high standards? Who knows... |

| What's your opinion of the worst MSX game ever? Let's start a list of nominees.
Let's continue the crap!

It's only bad according to Konami's Standard but I liked the game very much (I even finished it). Give it better GFX and sound and it's a decent game.
Worse commercial game for me: Les Flics and most stuffs made by Kuma ! |

Well, some of the nominated games, even not being excelent games, at least they cover the technical aspect.
Have you ever seen a game called COSMIC SHOCK ABSORBER? I think that it was coded by Martech. It is definetly the worst MSX game never made... Try it if you don't believe me. It is a kind of shooter, but there are no enemies (!) and you cannot move (!), you can only hit the space bar (?).
Another piece of shit from Martech is UCHI-MATA, the ultimate judo simulator. It stinks from any point of view.
But, of course, there are many games under-the-standard. Look at most of the games published in tape in the last times of the 8-bit computers...

About Contra, actually it´s one of the easiest games Konami ever made for MSX, at least IMHO. It´s not mediocre, it´s not great. Also, it had a terrible ending.
About worst MSX game... Many Spectrum ports by Spanish Dro Soft deserve that honor.
Other titles:
Nekketsu Judo (but yes, Uchi-Mata is even worse, good old Martech)
2021 Snooky (turbo R)
Zombie Hunter (bad bad bad NES Port)
...More to come....

For each big-name-company-bad-game there are at least 10 noname-lousy-basic-games.
The search for the worst game ever is a bit useless from that perspective.. ppl usually don't collect crappy games, so we don't really know what games are the crappiest.
'The worst game ever' is a bit unrealistic then.. you might want to change it into: 'the most overrated game' |
