hehe I could do an easy chicken or egg joke now. There are quite some people who have comments on what's going on with the MSX revival, but the way Tulip is handling the Commodore brandname is completely rediculous. At least everything MSX Association does has actually got something to do with MSX |

Well, it might trigger a lot of Commodore jokes now indeed. And it always starts with one person to make one. |

Well, it can be fun to take with you if you have to travel on your own.
I bought a joystick with a couple of hundres NES game in it in Taiwan for US$ 25,-. When I am bored in the evening, I hook it up to the TV in my hotel room and play some games!
Could be nice to have something similar for MSX. The PocketMSX emulator works quite nicely, but playing games on my iPAQ H5550 just doesn't work so nice due to the fact that the buttons on that device aren't made for playing games... |

There's only one for this and the whole community is known for it anyway: Copycat... |

They are going to sell it at www.yeahronimo.com, but the main focus will be selling MP3 files. Which makes sense, as Tulip just released some MP3 players under the Commodore brand. Indeed, not very original... |

Distributing games with emulators was not an original idea of the Project EGG. Charging that much for them YES.

You think EGG titles cost much? Check out RealArcade, they charge up to 20 euro for an emulated game |

Looking at eBay, the USB Cartridge Reader costs almost the same than a full featured MSX2+ computer. If this is the MSX Revival, I will stick to the original products: cheaper and nicer.

I thought SEGA also had some sale system for there old games.
So it's just not that they stole the whole idea from project EGG.

PitPan that makes no sense at all Ebay sellers are people like you and me who have nothing to do with the MSX Association. How would you blame MSX Association for high prices people ask for their 2nd hand hardware on Ebay? (btw, I can't find any USB Game Readers on Ebay, could you pass a link?)
Robert, I don't think EGG is the first project at all. Sega comes closer to being the first indeed. |

Marat Fayzullin distributes fMSX 2.7, a highly inferior MSX emulator, for $35 whilst not even owning the copyrights of the MSX System ROMs, not adding extra software to it. How come you complain about Project EGG and not about Marat? On eBay SD-Snatcher costs more than a full featured MSX2+ computer as well. How come you complain about everything related to the MSX Revival, Pitpan?
Project EGG have found a legal solution to the problem we are/were all facing: One day all MSX computers will not function anymore, one day all MSX software might be forgotten. Thanks to Project EGG, MSX Association and their partners the MSX software lives on on other platforms. I don't mind the legally entitled copyright-holders are earning a little money with that. It pleasantly surprises me to see that companies like Microcabin, Falcom, Aiky, Game Arts etc. are still interested in MSX!
As I have said so often before, you don't HAVE to buy games at EGG, you don't HAVE to buy the MSX Game Reader, you don't HAVE to buy the MSX Magazines. But at least they ARE available in 2004. More and more companies are showing they are interested in MSX again. I admit that the current projects aren't interesting for every MSX user, but they are profitable and succesful, which means it is just a matter of time until new projects appear, new companies join, in other words: other projects related to MSX will appear, and some might even be liked by you. And even if you still don't like those new projects, nobody is forcing you to support those projects, you are still allowed to use your MSX1 as much as you like. I really don't see the problem here.
