I think quite a lot of us watched the Soccer-game between the Netherlands and the Czech Republic yesterday. Anyone who understands why Dick Advocaat substituted the man of the match, Arjan Robben: please explain

Maybe Dick was feeling a bit homesick? Or is he just tired of life?

Because he was scared of Pavel Nedved and thought it would help to replace the best man on the pitch with a defending midfielder to mark Nedved. The immediate result being that the Dutch lost their attacking ability and Nedved became more dangerous than he was, being involved in both goals and hammering one on the bar. Great going...DICK.

Alright, I will accept the substitution from Arjen Robben. But then he should have brought Marc Overmars and not a defender. The Czech were pissed scared of the Dutch play and that changed immediately after the substitution. And then Dick also thinks a 35 year old Bosvelt can control Nedved? Man, what a second mistake that was. It all fitted in the long going irritations I feel for Advocaat his defending and scary and conservative way of playing. F*ck him.

I'm very proud of the Dutch players, they really did a great job yesterday, but Advocaat ruined it completely. I've never seen such a bad substitution with such an immense impact on the game.

Jan Mulder is a clown, and for that last couple of years quite an annoying one instead of being funny. He used to be funny. In 1998.

And I do not accept the sub of Robben. It was ridiculous, unnecessary and stupid.

Robben was substituted because he just recovered. Earlier Advocaat was blamed that he let Robben play too long after his recovery, now he's being blamed that he let Robben play too short. Whatever the situation is; as long as we lose the game, people always make it Advocaat's fault, and only Advocaat's fault.

How about the amateur-like mistake of Cocu? He just gave away a clean shot with that. He should be blamed for the first goal, as that was really his fault.

Btw, Jan Mulder is pathetic. I really feel sorry for him that he has to be like that on television. It's a shame no-one protects that man from himself.

Was Advocaat blamed for letting Robben play too long? That's bullshit. This was Robben's first appearence at the Euro2004 tournament. Before that Robben did not play under Advocaat since he was injured in a PSV game. PSV was blamed that they allowed Robben back on the pitch too early, not Advocaat.

And yes, Cocu is to blame for the first goal, and van Bronckhorst for the third goal. Advocaat is too blame because he disrupted the balance in the team, and removing the biggest threat on the field (Robben). Because Robben left, the Czech back Poborskly had all the room in the world all of a sudden, while if Robben would have staid, both Poborsky as a central defender would have been watching Robben....
