There are more people interrested in Realfun. I think Moonblaster for Moonsound has reached its limit when you think about replayer speed, size and features keeping the sound compatibility of earlier versions in mind.
As I stated some time ago when Realfun was a bit more of a hot topic the program would be a worthy adversary of Moonblaster for Moonsound.
So Sjoerd, what's the status on Realfun?

Realfun status update:
Decided to allow lots of steps per track => new trackeditor (pattern editor)
Finally made up my mind about the voice selection => new voice selection screens
Came up with yet another music format => new replayer (and new editor, as everthing is hardcoded)
To free some RAM I'll use the VRAM to store meta song information and the voicebanks => new (and 'somewhat' slower) songbuffer/voicebank routines
In short: I'll reprogram the whole thing.
specs are now something like:
multiple songbuffers, 256 tracks of up to 256 steps (every track can have it's own lenght), 16 or 32 channel songs, order table of 256 positions, 32 voices (fm+waves in one bank) and most command events allow a note event on the same step.
But specs can change when something's to difficult to implement
Most parts have to be rewritten, and rf isn't toppriority atm, so I have no idea when it will be finished. |

Thanks for the update... Unfortunately it means we can scrap RealFun as a viable alternative to MoonBlaster for MoonSound for the near future.
I wonder, what *is* toppriority for you at the moment? Sjasm, that RPG, or something completely new/different?

To keep the data aligned with the 16K mapper segments, and because it's easier to program and faster to calculate. Quote:

Regarding msx it would be hamaraja nights. But basically I meant: I am working on it, just not that fast. |
