Yeah, but could a 25 MHz PC run DirectX 9 and .NET support? I guess that the answer is "no".
In fact, with that russian recompiling tool, it could even run in PC without typing a single line of code.

In stead of writing code, you'd be doing all kinds of other work... That tool is not automagical. |

Problem solved...
Seems DirectX 9 does not install Managed DirectX by default.
I have added the newest Managed DirectX on the site (www.jegids.nl/mopi).
I can continue with the remake |

Exqueeze me, but I'd rather not have to install all kinds of weird DirectX 9 stuff for a simple game that could work in DirectX 5...
This is what I like about MSX (or console) games: they just work!

weird DirectX 9 stuff?
It is official DirectX stuff. But it isnt installed by default. You also could download the complete DirectX 9.0c and install it. I just put the part that is needed on the site.

Hehe, nice Job Henk! Keep it up Maybe a nice level editor, once the game is finished?
You might stumble upon some resistance when you ask people to install another ~40mb to get the game running. It's a drawback of the .net platform. (though the same counts for Java and its JDK/webstart/etc.). Nevertheless it's a nice project. Maybe you can share the code in the end, so that other C# fans may learn from it? |

Would it also work with mono?
For some reason Microsoft doesn't seem to release DirectX for the OS that I'm using here. And to install a complete OS (and spending several hunderd euro on it)+ extra .Net tools just to play a remake...

Thanks for the compliments, gives me the extra to finish it
I think I am going to make a level-editor, I have to make the orginals levels also..
And if all is done, I do think I would share the sources. There isnt much C# and Managed DirectX samples and help out there
Feel free to edit the PNG files. The tiles are all 16x16 pixels. Be sure to leave them on the same location though |

I just added those Managed DirectX stuff...
Now I get this error :/:
I have to agree with GuyveR800 though... I think it's overkill to have the newest DirectX version installed if it should be possible to do the same thing with DirectX 1.0 or something.
What's next? Required to install Visual Studio .NET just to get it working? |

hahaha...
no.. but I am doing this remake to learn Managed DirectX in C#.
I could also make something and throw away, but I decided to contribute something to the MSX scene.
I hope Microsoft will add the .NET Framework and the Managed DirectX with SP2 for Windows XP.
And indeed, it could be done in much lower DirectX versions. But there is also another thing to remember. Other DirectX version are much harder to work with.

Many requirements for playing this game, what about a simpler version of the game with less requirements?

what sucks is that, in order to preview/play some piece'a soft, peepz need to install different kinds of other stuff..
I don't want to install .net soft. period
I don't NEED to want to install any new Direct X.
c'mon just code the damn thing in plain 'ol C language without the extra shit (makes you a better programmer on top of it) I've always hated routines from other ppl. I write my own stuff. period (now, don't gimme crap about how e.z. it is and how good it works and all that. you're a coder or not. If not you're just a wanky EDITOR (notice the difference)..)
well having spilled my guts I'd be the first one to encourage you to continue to develop (but keeping earlier comment in mind)
(ok. boys, flames plz)

I normaly program in C++ and DirectX, but like I said: This is a study case for me.
And don't forget that the whole .NET and Managed DirectX is the future for Windows (.NET even for Linux as well).
Now you have to install those .NET and Managed DirectX but in the future you have to install a "DirectX emulator" in order to play the "old" games which arent made for Managed DirectX.

It still doesn't work here after installing the Managed DirectX stuff, it still gives me a System.IO.FileNotFoundException |
