Another thing: "People like Rinus Stoker, M.A.F, and us (msxposse) are ignored by these people."

I don't see why I would have to come to you. If you come to me in an honest manner without provocation, I will be glad to be of assistance. You need some help with programming? Just ask me. You have a question about the fair? Bring it on. Point is, I am ignoring no-one because there is nothing to ignore. Speak up if you want attention! (and not like this)

By the way, who do you think I (and Guyver) bother to organize the MSX fair Bussum for anyway? For ourselves? That's a lot of trouble, just for that. Or the MRC people, they invest so much time and money in their web site, I doubt they're doing it for themselves. Sure, doing stuff for the community earns one a bit of that so-called 'respect', and it is not unpleasant I guess. But that's the way things work, there has to be something in it for me too you know, and that's not money .

P.s. forgive me if I sound a bit harsh two messages ago, it's not an issue really, those photos, it is just that such things annoy me. I have no intention to get into a fight with you again (I'd rather keep things sensible and peaceful), so I'll just assume from now on that the message wasn't posted with bad intentions.

{Moderated} You got the expression wrong, it's -pink- glasses (or is that used for another state of mind?) Please don't pull people into discussions like this. Anyone would just have to reply when you use their nick like that.{/Mod}

Respectfully, MRC team, I did not pull HansO into this. As anyone can read on the MSX Posse forums and several other places, he's been actively putting people up against each other for a long time. And that's exactly what this (and other recent threads by these people) is all about!

IMO, it's time to unmask the real cause of fighting and hatred in the MSX internet scene...

Read what HansO has to say here: http://www.msxposse.com/viewtopic.php?t=489&start=30

Here's my view (and please correct me if I'm wrong):
#msxdev has been instrumental in the development of quite a few great MSX projects, and is partly responsible for getting quite a few people programming MSX software and teaching them how to do it.

The regular visitors of #msxdev (and that number is growing fast) are also the ones that start new hi-profile projects, forming new teams and new partnerships, outside of the old 'groups'. MRC is also instrumental in this.

There's a real sense of community and successful initiatives like MSX DevCon have started on #msxdev and MRC, as have many software projects.

I can only conclude the bashing is caused by people that feel left out somehow, but I assure you all that everybody is welcome on #msxdev, and although I cannot speak for MRC, I'm sure the same counts for them.

If any of you really feel MRC or #msxdev are causes of negativity in the MSX scene, realise that without these organisations MSX would still be in the void of non-activity.

p.s. I think it's weird that you were so persistently claiming the MRC did a huge wrong because it should have asked the (public) chat night's visitors for permission to put that log on their site

Just for the record, the chatlogs were -not- hosted on the MRC. We only reported about BiFi putting the chatlogs online.

I completely share GuyveR800's view on this matter. Without #msxdev, I probably still wouldn't have finished Bombaman. The help I got on this channel has been really useful, and I'm not just talking about tips on how to do things or trouble shooting when some MSX info is unclear. Some ppl living in #msxdev (hi BiFi!) have also helped by playtesting Bombaman and giving their opinion on how to improve the game even more.

Basically, #msxdev is there to help ppl with everything MSX related, be it programming, music, graphics, leveldesign (yes I helped chaos with his 'original' Guru Logic) but you can just have a nice chat there too

So, let's all join #msxdev and see some nice products being developed!

Which could indeed be talking about the impact of i.e. MRC or #msxdev on the scene. I do believe it has brought people closer together and got things going, development wise. I also must say though I was stunned by the MSXdev'04. I believe that's mainly a spanish initiative, which shows the Spanish scene is really about developing. Of course, the Dutch scene is doing that as well, but relatively spoken, we really like to talk a lot about it as well

With all due respect to the wonderful results of the MSXdev'04 competition, 'we' (dutch developers) are used to doing much more hi-profile software projects. A Moonblaster or Realfun, or a RPG, aren't just developed by one or two people in a few months. It takes a lot of time, a lot of planning, a lot of talk and a lot of people.

So in that sense, all the talk is logical...

Take Guru Logic (to come fully back on topic), this game is in development for quite some time, and it will take some time more. But the result cannot be compared with an 8kB game. It pushes MSX to its limits!

Each of the MSX developers (around the world) makes the choice of producing small or big projects for themselves. Everyone has their reasons...
But I think large-scale projects like Bombaman and the hi-profile products of the past belong in the MSX scene just as much, and without them (and people who dare to produce them), the MSX scene as a whole loses a lot.

Argon: Guru Logic is a puzzle game, with weird yellow ducks-kind-of-creatures shooting blocks into gaps in a rotatable pattern.
