It's not just musicians .. it's specs .. with 4-channels you're sortof stuck to a certain style.. usually moden/poppy/dance etc. On MSX (FM-Pac) there's a bit more room for larger/'symphonic' pieces .. Think of the intro of DS6 for example..
It goes without saying I'm in favour of this last style ofcourse

| But have ANY of you ever tried coding sumpf'n on Atari or Amiga eh?
|
The CPU alone (68000) gives me headaches!
I don't even want to go into specific hardwares ^^; |

is it those specs, that really count??
For non-modern/poppy/dance etc. style, you could listen for example Cannon Fodder, Shadow of the Beast, Star Dust intro, etc. And those are only old games, what about those demos?
Musicians in demo scene can do whatever kinda music they wanna. And they surely have made good reggae, heavy, jazz, symphony etc. on amiga.
It's surely not question about the specs, it is the maker/software/hardware, in that order, that really counts.
There's tons and tons of REALLY good music made with PSG/SID/PAULA. That is the proof of specifications not really counting. It's not those +32 channels which makes me enjoy the music.
And with OctaMED on amiga, you can use 8 channels if you want to, btw.
About that 68000 asm programming, I prefer these 8bit machines. 6510 is hard enough for me. =)

that 8 chanel trick is a cheap trick i puge on amiga bleuegggg ok i liked amiga for awile but that 4 channel sound that they called stereo i realy hated it.
The atari is a diverent story it was realy made for making music take the midi device for an example thats the only good thing from an atari i still having an atari 1040ST for my midi stuff.
But i disagree with wolf aubout that msx isnt good enough as a midi sequencer
Midi is a old standard it works on a 4 bit protocol and i think msx is capable as a midi sequencer but no one has ever made a sequencer exept for bit2 with their SyntheSaurus.
And MSX has Still the best Sound
if you own all the sound cards youre a lucky man! |

I wasn't talking about the MIDI protocol, but about the GUI that certain MIDI-apps always use. It's simply because the MSX has a slow VDP that you won't see many GUI'ish apps, like cubase-clones etc. Sure, for some Dynamic Publisher orso, the -slower- speed might be sufficient.. but for a music-app I require something fast/intuitive. I don't think a GUI with such a large-scale-app on MSX would please me there.. |

And FCS with C-Qensr and Michiel de Vries with his extremely impressive Meridian. |
