Take a look here :
http://chitchat.at.infoseek.co.jp/vmware/vfd.html
But why this post in the emulation section ?
Because of the MSX-PLAYer that seems to finally come in Europe with the new "MRC members" initiative.
The MSX-PLAYer doesn't allow to use "normal" disk images, only real MSX disks in your PC drive. But there's a solution : the Virtual Floppy Disk Driver for PC !
I think that it can interest some people, although there are really better emulators than the MSX-PLAYer |

BlueMSX is not better than MSXPLAYer, if that's what you mean
Also, I think snout posted links to this software a few times before. |

First, you don't have noticed that I speak about emulators (and not one single emulator)
Secondly, accuracy is not the unique factor to judge an emulator : blueMSX and openMSX have more features than the MSX-PLAYer.

Please note that I was making a joke
But since you seem to want to discuss features, both BlueMSX and openMSX lack a major feature of MSXPLAYer that makes MSXPLAYer successful to people other than people with knowledge about MSX, and that's skinning.
Sure, MSXPLAYer is less complete than BlueMSX and openMSX... It doesn't support MoonSound, or Sunrise IDE, but that is outside its scope and IMO not the main factor in deciding which emulator is 'better' than another, like you claimed...
Also, MSXPLAYer being able to use REAL floppy disks is a huge advantage, as people will be able to play their old original game software, in stead of having to pirate stuff from the internet!

Thanks for the precisions ... but blueMSX has, since version 1.6.0, themes with customisable skins .... so, the MSX-PLAYer is no more alone with this feature that allows indeed to everyone to personnalise his MSX emulator. You can even create new themes for blueMSX since version 1.7.0 !
Using real disks is also possible in paraMSX, fMSX-DOS and partially in openMSX (only the Linux version). This feature will be added in the future in blueMSX.

At Bussum, we discussed skinning for openMSX. It will probably be implemented, but I don't know exactly when. Not in the next release (0.5.0, due in a couple of days) for sure.

Great, I'll be following all emulation developments. There's still lots of things to improve and perfect. |

I have not been that interested about emulators, but I would like to ask, wich emulator is best at the moment for emulating non expanded MSX tR?
I think OpenMSX is quite a good (at least the CPU timing works), but at least PCM emulation sucks a big time at the moment.

For the moment, openMSX is indeed the best choice for emulation of Turbo-R.
Maybe you will be surprised by next version of blueMSX (the first version with Turbo-R support) ... As both emulators are now very close to each other for the accuracy, I think that the choice of many people will be more based on personal preferences

Hehe, you're not implying Linux users will download a Windows emulator to play with BlueMSX, now do you? |

It could happen in the future that you switch to blueMSX, when Linux version will be available |
